Which is your favorite? I've recently begun to enjoy these acoustic versions but there are MANY more than I thought and was hoping you guys would post some good ones!

I like this one 2007 version of Rocket and the acoustic performance of Cherub Rock on Vieuphoria. It seems I am a sucker for anything SD. Are there any epic unplugged versions of heavy MCIS songs or synthed out Machina tracks? Sharing is good!

I of the Mourning at 99x is the masterpiece.
I almost hate the studio version...

On this performance is can find an acoustic version of Bullet with BW, a rare thing.

Search for it on youtube, cba to do it now...

This.

Absolutely brilliant version.

I've never really cared for acoustic renditions of songs all that much. The sound has so much more variance and character when you're allowed to add a little spice. Who still doesn't like their hot dogs (assuming it's already a tasty bratwurst) with a little ketchup/mustard/relish/etc., right?

Yeah but after having like 30 hot dogs with the works, you'd want one plain.

No, I woudn't have all the stuff together--"the works", as you call it! I was talking about different condiment combinations, but only a few at a time. If I'd been through all those, then my plan would be to reach for hummus or whatever I hadn't tried on it yet to experience a new novel combination. Plain is too boring. I have a sensation seeking personality.

I'm pretty offended by this hot dog thing.

The analogy doesn't work - because if SP went out of their way to do 2-3 electric variations on one song then you know that another 1-2 would be an acoustic version. So the acoustic version would be one of the condiment variations thus making stumpycat's argument invalid.

This so fucking hard. The harmonica is an awesome accompaniment . I like how it plays all the noodley guitar parts.

I think you are reading a bit wrongly/too deeply into it. I was just saying that you've got the plain "meat" of a song, which is whatever you may work out acoustically, and which is fundamentally varied between songs, but the qualities become quite bland and similar when things such as tone, distortion, effects, etc. cannot be used to add depth, enhance, and further differentiate one song from another.

Well, while that's true, that could all be window dressing to mask a poorly writen song. If you strip all that shit down to just the core--acoustic and a voice--you should have a well written song, and I think that's one way to showcase it. Sometimes, that's all a song really needs... (see Stumbleine, Jupiter's Lament, etc.) You have to do what's best for the song itself, and sometimes having it "naked" is the best.

I mean it would be like putting ketchup on a $30 steak. Sometimes the meat is so good, you don't need any condiments and just enjoy the steak, you know?

So the chef used no seasoning "enhancements," or marinade either? ;)

BTW I no longer really eat any red meat, and haven't for a long, long time. But I sure as hell did when I was a kid! I am a former steak connoisseur. So I know that of which I speak...

The marinade would be the gauge of strings on the acoustic.

...or the gauge of the plectrum, or the natural resonance of the type of wood used for the guitar body...oooohkay. This ain't going my way.
