Anyone catch the premier on HBO?

It was, in typical HBO fashion, jaw-droppingly good.

I did enjoy the preggo scot chick getting beaten to a pulp.

And the italian dude's head exploding into the phonograph.

Boardwalk was good but it didn't blow me away. I'll definitely keep watching.

New Dexter starts Sunday.

I liked it but I had problems remembering who all the characters were. my tiny brain can only handle a few new characters at a time

and HBO does some good shows... but True Blood kind of blows. I think it would be better if not for the horrible accents

I think the only reason I watch True Blood is because every single episode starts and ends with a cliff hanger. That manages to sucker me into watching it every week. Because for the most part it is a truly horrible show.

They really hyped the fuck out of it, but I thought it was good.

I didn't think i would like True Blood, but after I got a few episodes in I was addicted. I love it and I'm super bummed that it's over :|

Dexter tonight... woot!

But yes, True Blood can be very cheesy at times. Some cringeworthy bits in this last season.

I probably ruined that show for myself by reading half of the books before I started watching any episodes. The HBO series LOOSELY follows the books.... so it's not really like I would have spoiled anything.

But from reading the books, I had personalities and looks in mind for each of the characters. I think they did well with all the casting except for Bill. In my mind he was MUCH more attractive. He's so old looking in the HBO series.

Also, in the TV shows, Eric has no ummm... soft side? Which is going to be important if the plot is going to go anywhere near where the books go. I think next season in true blood they will probably start making him a bit more sympathetic. Mmmmm book-Eric.

Anyway, I expected more from Alan Ball after falling in love with Six Feet Under. sigh. Just doesn't seem to be as much depth to the show.

oh and they made everything so TRASHY. Just because it's a small southern town doesnt mean everyone has to look like they shop at wal-mart. Or don't have access to decent supply of soap and water. Fucking stereotypes.

I also hate about 50% of the characters on the show. Towards the end of this season I started fast forwarding through big chunks of the episodes

you might like the books, then. About half the characters in the show arent really in the books. That black chick is not really in the books... well she's in the book but she owns a small clothing boutique (NOT WALMART) and only has minor appearances. And shes white. And not cousins with the cook. Who also gets killed off pretty quickly in the books.

Brady, I was lost on characters too but just Wiki the names of a few of them and you'll understand who they were and what exactly was going on (the gunned-down car scene was confusing as fuck before I read about the characters' real lives).

But seriously, Eastbound and Down tonight! Along with Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire, Amazing Race, Desperate Housewives (for the wife) and The Wire on DirectTV 101, my DVR system's gonna be tired.

do you think it was supposed to be confusing? They cant expect us to google stuff in order to follow the show. I assume it will be explained later on??

Lets re-name this as the "HBO series" thread because I want to ask if anyone likes Bored to Death. I set it to record because it seemed funny.

I think it was confusing on purpose, yeah. It'll be explained in detail I'm sure very soon but I wanted to know more about the guy who got his blown off at the end.
