Highlights:
- EP 2's artwork has been signed off on and he's hoping for the physical release to occur by the end of the year.
-Matt Walker is now in charge of getting the Chicago songs (now called the "Chicago Kid" project) sorted out and into some kind of releasable form. Apparently there are 72 songs from that era that they're choosing from. They're wanting to have a DVD/box set kind of thing out by the end of next year.
-Billy wants to put out a Gish reissue or box set for the 20th Anniversary of it next year. He says he's gotten the rights for the material, but that he wants EMI to participate in it somehow to help it get out. He wants fans to somehow get it across to them that there's enough interest in the idea to make it worth their while to help Billy put it out. He suggested that without help, he wouldn't be able to put it out on his own until he's 50.
-Billy is tossing around the idea of touring on his own, playing small acoustic shows where he pretty much plays whatever he wants from his entire catalog. He specifically mentioned playing Zwan and TFE songs in addition to SP songs. But he says SP are so in demand these days that finding the time to do such a tour is problematic.
Astur 08-23-2010, 07:06 PM Fuck EP2, the other news are quite interesting. I sure hope we get the Gish Box and touring acoustic on his own seems like a good, non-SP3'14-ClusterFuck-Edition idea.
Pizza Club 08-23-2010, 07:29 PM So by the end of the year we will have gotten 2 EPs out of 11, and this is going to take 4 years?
And the "grab bag" BC solo acoustic show...that's actually pretty exciting.
eyesofruby32 08-23-2010, 07:40 PM Interesting. But what are we supposed to do? Petition EMI with letters? It's not like they're broke or anything.
MonteLDS 08-23-2010, 07:55 PM I went ahead and wrote a letter

stumpycat 08-23-2010, 10:23 PM Did anyone else feel the strong desire to proofread Monte's letter? I am frustrated that it is too blurry. Also, I am surprised that he did not type the thing, being IT* and all.

This won't win me any cool points, but I noticed on my facebook newsfeed today the Pumpkins were saying "We want EMI to release the Gish boxset!". I guess they were hoping enough people would like it to make a difference?
Also, the most recent post was "You rule, Monte!"

Fuck it. I'm going to the show and yelling for "She's The One For Me."
RenewRevive 08-24-2010, 09:18 AM leave Monte alone guys. the ability to dash off a quick letter freehand is a valuable skill should one ever find oneself in the clink, illiteracy being what it is in the corrections system.
DaveKShape 08-24-2010, 03:39 PM more ideas that will never come to fruition.

easily done.
i'm sure an honest mail room employee will take a good look at it for a few seconds before tossing it in the trash
Trotskilicious 08-24-2010, 07:05 PM although considering your spelling and maturity level i'm sure maybe someone will think it's from a cute little kid and send it on up the ladder.
