Per Billy's Twitter:

Just got news, next SP song will be released mid-Sept. It's a pretty one ;) one of my faves ever...

Not sure what it's going to be based on that. I guess I'd say Tom Tom is a "pretty" song, so maybe that's it.

Why the fuck do I have to wait 4 years for this project to be completed? That's all I really want to know.

Billy said in one of those Ustream Q and As that it hadn't been. But on the other hand, the title of the EP is "The Solstice Bare," which is a lyric from the song. And there was that tweet from Kerry Brown a while back that confirmed he was mixing it. Maybe the EP titles don't necessarily have to track with the songs on them, and maybe Kerry was just mixing a demo of Tom Tom or something. But I'm hoping Billy was just BSing everyone and trying to keep the names of songs that are recorded under his hat so it'll be a surprise when they come out.

ah ok. mind you, kerry was wrong about kevin working on baby, although i doubt he'd get every song title wrong.
i thought i was hardcore but twitter is too hardcore for me to bother with.

i wouldn't be too bad if bill was bullshitting. pretty good song.

someone found out that apparently the terribly-mediocre SITS track "The Fellowship" is on the Vampire Diaries soundtrack.

remember when he told us the SITS songs were just "b pile" songs he was trying out? Apparently that was a lie, since he recorded all of them.

The Vampire Diaries: ‘TVD’ Soundtrack Heading Your Way (http://www.tvovermind.com/cable/thecw/the-vampire-diaries/vampire-diaries-tvd-soundtrack-heading/28614)

The Fellowship was actually one of the SITS songs I really liked, so this is good news to me. Hopefully, this song is coming out separate from Teargarden though. It'd suck if it was a double dip where it gets released for free and then sold on a soundtrack too.

Hold on a minute. Billy just got news from who exactly? Isn't he the one calling the shots with this? Or is Azoff the reason this one is being dragged out? It makes you wonder what the latest possible date that could be considered 'Mid September' is...

So far, Astral Planes is the only good song, and even that has a lot of cheese.

95% chance this will suck balls.

Astral Planes is the worst song on the album thus far. It'd be a lot better though if he spent more than 2 minutes writing lyrics for it.

^have you heard WWMM?

Yes. I actually don't mind it. Zwan-esque. I was teasing about the Zeitgeist stuff. There's actually a few good songs on it. If "United States" was played in standard or Eb tuning, instead of the whole or two whole steps down it's in, it might have been a better sounding song to my ears.

United States is a rocker.

Oh it rocks all right. The volume isn't the issue; I love heavy Pumpkins. It's the shitty low tuning I don't like.

It's a good song, but yes, the lyrics just don't do anything.

Chances are it'll take more time than that assuming he doesn't just give up on it part way.

What is this? Like 3 months since the last song? One a month would be okay, if a bit long between releases, but this is just ridiculous.

I'm assuming you don't care for seven-stringed guitars and the C-tuned opus that was a Machina show then?

As a guitarist, I hate seven-stringed guitars, and will never play or own one. On Machina, Billy and James used baritone guitars at times to get lower. The way they used the C-tuning on Machina actually doesn't bother me. I think the worse track might be "Heavy Metal Machine," and even then the guitars have some awesome moments in that song. But they used C for things other than just bashing out one-fingered bar chords (a'la Korn and Limp Bizkit) in Machina, which I think is great. There's a good interview with Billy in a Guitar World Mag from 2000, in which he explains some of he and James' guitar tactics.
