Same here. I didn't get to turn it up too much today. I pretty much wired just the bridge pickup and started playing it a little before it got really late. It will be taken to a tech in a few days to set intonation and wire the other pickups.
I must say that this neck is amazing. It feels like a custom shop guitar.

not that im complaining, because it looks sweet, but i think maybe the REAL b.c. strat is the SD-era '57 strat that was painted silver and the pick-guard was all sharpied... with lace sensors and the bridge set so its set against the body (pretty much hardtail). Billy used it at the recent metro show... looks like all the bats came off.

wait a minute, I just remembered that super psychedelic gish-era guitar from kerry's daily blog that hasnt been update in months. THAT is the coolest B.C. strat... anyway, im not making any points, your strat is fucking wickid.

I actually have 4 sheets of the exact bat stickers he used on that one.
My favorite tone has always been the Hardtail Strat Mellon Collie tone though so i build this one.
Here's the same guitar.

Wow, well done! I want a vintage 70s and/or '57 RI strat myself. I have a 90s strat and it lacks that cool factor. Been blowing my money on Gibsons the last couple years, time to upgrade my Fender arsenal.

Looks awesome. You gotta bust out those stickers and do the bat one. Distressed & aged & all.

I'll probably do that one within a year or so. Got this 2nd project in my head now. Exact to my specifications:

I really thought about building a few of his different strats and selling them. Not sure if there'd be a market on Ebay for it though.

Sorry, you're at least 12-13 years too late on that one. Which is a shame. :(
I guess there's not a market for my custom replica embroidered zero shirts either....

But very nice, professional work. I'm impressed.

Thanx. I was shocked how the SM57 did myself. I really need to find a nice mic to dual mic with.

A nice trick is to use another SM57. Go on axis and off axis, with capsules touching... so a V sort of shape with one facing the cone, and the other on a 45 degree angle.

Then double track that, then do two tracks for the other side - so you end up with 8 tracks of audio.

Balance it so the on axis mic is a bit lower than the off... or the other way round... don't put all the faders at the same volume.

Lets not derail the thread here guys and get back to the topic at hand.

Which is that spguitar hasn't an actual creative bone in his body, so he treats tone like it's some prepackaged lego set. Except it's not. And for his sake i hope he's taken that hideous grill cloth off his speaker cab.

I know Corgan plays other instruments, but it seems like he prefers strats.

Here is my favorite guitar of his. I think it was the guitar that he relied on the most for live events after his Gish guitar was stolen. It started off as an early 90's 57 RI two tone sunburst. Then around 1995 he painted it Silver and put bat stickers all over it. It must have been painted right before their SNL appearance, because the guitar's refinish looks unscathed.
He used it to record several songs on the Siamese Dream album.

He used it so much playing live, that the bat stickers are now very worn, and the silver paint is pretty hammered too.

I had a polaroid or two of myself wearing the shirt years ago (I wore it a good bit in highschool) but as far as I know the existing one or two I sent off during the compilation of that big Listessa book for charity that was presented to Billy.
The shirt eventually needed a bit of repair but I didn't get to it soon enough and the washing machine snagged up part of the embroidered lettering that had been sewn on. By that time I was busy with other things in life besides SP, or looking like a superfan, so I just let it go. I still kind of miss the shirt, though, for the coolness factor. Since I know how to make them, I thought that if enough people were interested I could probably make a few of them since I was not impressed with the printed ones. (In particular, they needed to be thin cotton/poly blend, cuffless, with letters of embroidered patches which have been sewn onto the shirt, and of thick, but low sheen silver material and differently textured raised edging.) Then I thought that no one probably gave a shit any more, so I didn't bother.

That's pretty cool that a good few people are still interested in this kind of shirt. (I have always been into costume design, so that's why I was so determined to get a more "authentic" looking one...) I might consider doing them if I could find the suitable materials, and had confidence that they would turn out looking quite well. I'm going to have some free time coming up (though perhaps not for long...)
