They aren't revealing a lot according to their Wikipedia. A new LP does seem to be in the works though.

Meh, this band had great promise, but the last few albums sucked hard.

What? Thirteenth Step is the last great overproduced big rock record. No one records albums of that caliber nowadays, and I doubt they'd do a full-fledged LP now.

That's right what I was going to say. Let's hope for a good new album (Ashes Divide had many good songs but was quite meh)

I had never even heard of Ashes Divide...judging from the Myspace tracks I'd say hyper-meh

"The Stone" is anthemic (though it leaves a feeling of being neither deep nor exploring) and "Sword" is haunting, but the rest is like a b-movie genre sequel to a blockbuster and mostly a filler.

I crank the album up at certain times in my life, and it's fragile in terms of being one step away from being a goth-pop record. It hits nerve when you're in right mood though.

What let me most astonished from that record was the bald guy's ability to mime Maynard's singing style in APC. When I first heard "Stone" I would've sworn it was a new APC track.

I'll have to listen to the Ashes Divide album again. Only gave it one solid chance but it didn't dazzle me. The guy has a lot of talent but it seems like he needs other musicians of his caliber to really be able to stand out from the rest.

Excited about the new APC, though!

Mer de Noms has some really beautiful inspired guitar playing. Thirteenth Step is above average but not as good in comparison.

I really doubt that James is involved for some reason.

I really enjoy Ashes Divide. The first time I listened through the album, I wasn't impressed at all. I ended up listening to it a few more times and it really grew on me for some reason. I saw them live at Projekt Revolution in 2008 at Virginia Beach. My wife's a big fan Linkin Park and we were both getting into Ashes Divide around that time. Say what you will about Linkin Park's music, they have a fairly impressive live show. Ashes Divide was incredible live. We were really into it, but the crowd was completely dead. I was actually sort of surprised they were on the main stage since the band is pretty much unknown.

Chris Cornell's live performance at Projekt Revolution made me regret that I was a fan of Alternative in the 90's. It was Billy-Corgan-oh-oh-oh style embarrassing - especially the "duet" with Linkin Park later on in the night. Trust me, it was even worse than it sounds.

I agree on the two real albums being awesome..anything subsequently is shit.

I thought after the horrendous covers album they brought out a new one, but it was a cd/dvd set. I stand corrected.

CD/DVD combo was remixes/official promo videos. Remixes CD was sort of nothing special, and wasn't meant to be special at all. And the DVD was as good/bad as a video collection DVD can be.

Emotive sort of lacked, and had a couple of sub-par tracks (I've even deleted that horrendous Black Flag cover from my CD rip), but even with these flaws it's better than 99% that's present on Pitchfork.

What the hell, that weird-ass cover was amazing. I personally couldn't stand the depeche mode one.

This band has really never been that great. Their first album was all they ever had going for them, and even then only half of it was good.

Maybe I should check it out again. Well, I always give things second chances when it's too late. Like when I saw Depeche Mode "In Your Room" video and thought I'd never listen to that gloomy stuff, and one year later I've bought SoF&D and it really grew on me.

Btw, I still can't figure out what songs on Emotive are sung by Howerdel. "Peace, Love and Understanding" and what else? He's such a Maynard copycat.

At least Howerdel was smart enough to take this long hiatus after their cover of John Lennon's "Imagine". God awful and sacriledge...why not cover Stairway to Heaven and Freebird while your at it.

timing is good for them to come back now though.

APC don't use ironic 80's disco rhythms or the same pubescent garage strumming drenched in reverb and passed as neopsych. Neither lead singer nor back-up singers copy Ian Curtis vocal tone. None of their members have a beard, and only one former member plays a cello (moreso she didn't play it like a guitar). They also won't get an overwrought review in Pitchfork. Thus they're a total opposite to this board's mainstream taste.
