It's all here--fast-kicking, low scoring, and ties? You bet! You'll see all your favorite soccer stars! Like Ariaga! Ariaga II! Bariaga! Aruglia! And Pizzoza! And they'll all be signing autographs! This match will determine once and for all which nation is the greatest on earth - Mexico or Portugal! JokeyLoki 05-21-2010, 10:32 AM Too bad soccer is never that exciting. Exactly duovamp 05-21-2010, 10:39 AM Some pretty good Hocus Pocus by Focus in there. Fonzie 05-21-2010, 02:40 PM I couldn't work out if it's the original or a remake. Sonic Johnny 05-22-2010, 04:24 AM The implication that soccer is that exciting is the worst lie perpetrated by humans since people started denying the holocaust. cocksure 05-22-2010, 04:37 AM it's just a game man. it's as exciting as watching a sport could get. i mean it's sort of unlikely that the interconnectedness of modern society is going to flash on your screen in short allegorical bursts when you're watching american football or baseball or wherever people decide to get sweaty for the entertainment of others Sonic Johnny 05-22-2010, 04:56 AM I watch cricket and I find Soccer to be the most boring sport ever. cocksure 05-22-2010, 05:06 AM i used to hate football but that was mostly due to people beating me up on sports grounds it's a pretty good game, really subtle, but i can see why it's not for everyone. i think it would be better if games weren't 90 mins tho duovamp 05-22-2010, 09:55 AM Soccer is not a sport; it is a game. T&T 05-22-2010, 12:04 PM the homer cameo was the best! hnibos 05-22-2010, 12:10 PM i used to hate football but that was mostly due to people beating me up on sports grounds it's a pretty good game, really subtle, but i can see why it's not for everyone. i think it would be better if games weren't 90 mins tho then they should be longer? no way in hell should they be shorter. soccer is awesome. awesome to the max. Mo 05-22-2010, 12:15 PM It's football, not soccer. :hanging: Tonight's the UEFA Champions League finale, Inter vs Bayern. It's gonna be fantastic, both are playing for the triple. Eulogy 05-22-2010, 12:16 PM americans whining about how boring soccer/football is gets really, really annoying. i don't often watch it because the mls sucks and i find it difficult to arbitrarily assign my loyalties to a team in europe. but it's a great sport. hnibos 05-22-2010, 12:17 PM if i could, i would help my american-ness. im sorry moritz. hnibos 05-22-2010, 12:18 PM americans whining about how boring soccer/football is gets really, really annoying. i don't often watch it because the mls sucks and i find it difficult to arbitrarily assign my loyalties to a team in europe. but it's a great sport. i cant assign my loyalty to any team (sans international teams) but just like with most sports, watching the best of the best is always entertaining. hnibos 05-22-2010, 12:19 PM fuck i got caught up watching curling in february i guess my opinion doesnt mean anything Eulogy 05-22-2010, 12:20 PM i cant assign my loyalty to any team (sans international teams) but just like with most sports, watching the best of the best is always entertaining. i dunno. i suppose this is largely true. but as far as becoming a year round fan, it's not enough to draw me in. i got other shit to do. cocksure 05-22-2010, 01:20 PM then they should be longer? no way in hell should they be shorter. soccer is awesome. awesome to the max. nah i think they should be shorter. would make everything quicker, more risky, more fun. So, who do you think who will win and for whom you will cheer? Have no idea who will win, probably some fan and his family who will take home a nice souvenir in a form of HIV. Since our players were too busy partying and fucking whores to manage to qualify, I will cheer for Uruguay/Paraguay and Slovakia, and I hope Portugal doesn't make it out of the group and that piece of shit who doesn't even know how to kick a penalty properly will go home crying like a baby. Drogba, kick Ronaldo's ass! jczeroman 05-24-2010, 02:21 AM It took me a while to warm up to this sport, but I found that the only way to truly appreciate watching it is to play it. Fonzie 05-24-2010, 02:27 PM to be fair, I'd be surprised if we don't lose every game. but who knows - after watching the 'friendly' last night there's something there. We played Italy in a confederations warm-up last year and went down 4-3. If Italy and Slovenia field weakened teams we could be in with a shot. RopeyLopey 05-24-2010, 03:04 PM to be fair, I'd be surprised if we don't lose every game. but who knows - after watching the 'friendly' last night there's something there. We played Italy in a confederations warm-up last year and went down 4-3. If Italy and Slovenia field weakened teams we could be in with a shot. You're in the group with Slovakia, not Slovenia. Slovakia sucks, you are surely within a reach of getting some points from them. mercurial 05-24-2010, 09:58 PM That was Italy's B team fonz. They wont be fielding the B team at the world cup ... generally teams play their strongest lineups. The kiwis played really well against Australia last night. Definitely had the measure of them in the first half despite those thuggish tackles. Great work from the big forwards, Fallon was outstanding and Chris Wood looked every bit as promising as he's made out to be when he came on. He'll be playing premier league next year for West Brom, v.exciting. Heartbreaking to see that second goal go in on in the literal last second of the game. I'm looking forward to NZ being the 31st or 32nd best team at the cup. Our best shot is against Slovenia and we'd have to play very good football to come away with a draw against them. mercurial 05-24-2010, 10:05 PM So as far as the big teams obv. Spain looks simply amazing this year. The only question mark for them are Torres and Ramos with one out of form and the other lacking a brain and even then ... what a team. After that I think it's fairly close between the big teams. Brazil, Argentina, Germany, France and England all look great. Spain v Brazil for the final would be the premium matchup I reckon. Darkhorse prediction: I think the US team will fare better than ever this year Fonzie 05-25-2010, 12:37 AM North Korea will win. Expect there to be a few team bus torpedoing. Fonzie 05-25-2010, 12:37 AM The kiwi vice-captain is probably out due to fracturing his shoulder. RopeyLopey 05-25-2010, 05:16 AM That was Italy's B team fonz. haha. I usually cannot watch Italy play. That is not football, that's a movie filming set. Spain v Brazil for the final would be the premium matchup I reckon. oh yeah, that would be the best. sppunk 05-25-2010, 08:00 AM America gonna kick all your commie asses. mercurial 05-26-2010, 11:28 PM USA looked pretty shit against Czech. I wouldn't be surprised if USA wins everything in their group - unless Kim Chong-Il threatens to nuke South Korea in case USA beats North Korea. Luke de Spa 05-29-2010, 03:58 AM ice hockey has an artificially high ranking because of the novelty value. it's not a sport anyone really plays here and i hardly ever watch it on tv (i.e., once every two or three years). if i watched it often, maybe i'd think it was boring and overly physical like rugby. who knows Fonzie 05-29-2010, 08:30 PM Serbia 0 New Zealand 1.
