Never seen Pearl Jam live :(

I've said it before, but I just can't get into them at all.

I never really got into them either. Probably in the last couple of years I started listening to them more. The show was so incredible ...... i wanna go back again :)

Listening to the 10/31/09 (last show at the Spectrum) bootleg now. This is by far the best show I've ever seen and listening is bring back all the memories. It's three and a half hours long too.

this.

I'll try harder to connect with the music perhaps, but overall it isn't very interesting.

I know of nothing after Vitalogy. I get the impression it's not really worth it.

I know nothing past the Downward Spiral I get the impression it's really not worth it. See how dumb a statement like that can be.

You should at least give Yield a listen. It is the album that got me hooked to be honest.

huh?

I actually purchased No Code and gave it a couple listens and never went back to it. I've heard singles and whatnot after that and never felt compelled to move forward with them.

I can understand people quitting NIN after TDS. Things got different after that. I don't see your point.

Bonnaroo was the best Pearl Jam show I've seen. They have never been a "tight" band, so I guess if you're looking for technical execution at your shows, they are not for you.

Starla, what show did you see?

yeah, eulogy. if you listen to anything after vitalogy, listen to yield. we're 12 years removed from that record now, so your initial point may stand, but the albums after do have some great songs on them. there is some real shit, though, too.

Even die hard PJ fans will tell you that No Code is bad album. Yeild the album that followed is however an amazing album.

If it makes you feel any better, I have trouble making it through No Code myself. The songs by themselves aren't bad but I find it exhausting to try to listen to the whole thing. Same thing with Beck's Sea Change.

The question is, which is the best BJ album?

HUH? HUH?

Same thing with Beck's Sea Change.

Woah, woah, let's not get crazy here.

I love Sea Change, I do, and it's a gorgeous sounding record. It is also kind of depressing and having been through a break up somewhat recently that still stings, I can only get through a song or two without having to turn it off. I remember more or less feeling the same way when I first heard it though.

I think you kind of outgrow listening to depressing albums. I know there are tons of albums that I don't really listen to that much anymore because they are so dark and depressing.

I know there are tons of albums that I don't really listen to that much anymore simply because I'm tired of listening to them. I don't really think it has anything to do with whether its a happy record or a sad record.

That said, I like sad records.

No Code is my favorite PJ album. I'd put them something like:

No Code
Vitalogy
Yield
VS.
Binaural
Ten
Riot Act
Avacado
Backspacer

Backspacer's the only one I don't really like, and about half of s/t is pretty weak.
