I suggest you hear the song itself before you watch the video, the video itself one of those cinematic "epics" that is really distracting from the music.

Um holy fuck it's Suicide's "Ghost Rider" with new lyrics. What a joke, as usual. First Bappi Lahiri, then Alan Vega. Yawn.

I mean, like, I already got excited about this song once before about 6 years ago. I loved it.

If I would have made this thread I would have been responding like crazy by now. I guess I just don't have the patience to wait it out.

What is the appropriate time to wait for the OP? Is it gauged by responses to the thread or is it by time? I figure about 5 individual posts to be the correct time to respond to one's own thread, or 12 hours. Whichever comes first.

The 2nd Suicide album (produced by Ric Ocasek) is seriously under-rated IMO, though.

Um, it's not a sample; it's the exact same song with slightly different lyrics.

Well, when the original song is that repetitive, there's not much you can do with the sample itself. The song is just those three bass notes, with a beating bass drum and a single fucking chord. I think she did plenty to add to it. Most obviously adding a shit tonne of drums.

I'm not trying to make out like I give a shit about M.I.A. or anything, for the record. I've never even liked her music at all. I heard this song on the radio this morning on the radio and really liked it.

I've never heard the original, but some of the drums were added? Neat.

It's alright. but Paper Planes > Born Free

...ok, I just listened to Ghost Rider. She definitely did good things with it. Quit whining, slunken.

this is ok, nothing quite like anything on Arular but i'm getting used to the fact that she may be a nas-type with the first album classic and then bits and pieces after that.

when is the new reckid out

I put on Suicide's s/t last night and I'm fairly certain it will remain the better, more timeless album.

I wish I could have filmed my reaction when I first heard this MIA song, but it was something along the lines of "NOOOOOOO THEY CANT DO THIS TO MEEEEEEEE!!!"

It was fun to listen to a bunch while riding my bike friday. Tried to listen to it again last night and was back to not feeling it. It gets old quick and I stand by my previous comment that Ghostrider will and does stand the test of time.

trying to set aside the Ghost Rider sample completely, the song doesn't do too much, it's ok as like a GarageBand cutesy track that someone put together in a couple hours
