I really dug it, but I think the comic was slightly meaner and better (Big Daddy's origin in the comic is darker and funnier - but I loved the origin in the movie with John Romita Jr.'s art, the resolution of Dave's relationship is way better and unexpected in the comic, the Hit Girl doing cocaine aka "Code Red", Red Mist & Kick-Ass going into the burning building was crazier in the original, Dave doesn't kill anybody in the book and that's kind of the point). But this isn't without it's merits - had a lot of funny stuff, some great music (wiki sez they cribbed the cue in the warehouse from Sunshine), and Vaughn's direction was very interesting to watch - and even improved on a few aspects. The movie diverges slightly in the end but that's probably because the comic took forever to come out. Still a very good movie and a very good adaptation, way better than the hack job that was Wanted.

Er, and Nic Cage performances I actually like quite a few: Bad Lieutenant, Lord of War, Adaptation, Leaving Las Vegas, Face/Off, his 10 seconds in Grindhouse, this flick, heck, I even like him in the Rock. "I just wanna FIND SOME ROCKETS!!" Ghost Rider was awful but it was rather entertainingly awful and so was he.

I still think how they changed Big Daddy's origin into something very superhero standard was kind of weak. His exit was more brutal too in the book.

I dunno I think burning to death slowly in front of your daughter is a little more brutal (at least equal) to getting shot in the head.

True that, I just thought the way he went out in the book was just flat-out uglier and didn't have a hint of hope like his death did here. Good death scene here, very emotional and very well done I'll admit, but I just liked how bleak it was in the comic.

Y'see, it's hard to engage in a conversation about the movie adaptation of Kick-Ass with that hunk of text there. I'm sure there's some blisteringly sarcastic point buried under layers of irony and all, but it just makes the thread a real pain to read.

My friends and I are fans of the original wicker man and heard tales of how bad the remake was. So we thought itd be a good idea to buy it from half priced books and get blazed and laugh our asses off ... And uhh it actually wasn't so bad. I chuckled at a few cage-isms and awkward editing decisions but otherwise it wasn't so bad. Not a four star movie by any means but its no Troll 2

My friends and I are fans of the original wicker man and heard tales of how bad the remake was. It's true.

I still can't decide (1) if I know for sure what the fuck happened in this movie and (2) if I liked it or not.

Kick Ass was a lot of fun. Bringing Out The Dead is probably my favorite Cage performance. Also like 8mm, Lord of War, Leaving Las Vegas, The Weather Man, Raising Arizona and Vampire's Kiss.

It's one of the worst remakes in the history of film making. They took the core concept and everything that was great in the original and turned into some movie about a crazy feminist bee cult.

yeah you'd get that from watching the retarded trailers but it's actually a movie similar to Blow, a biography of someone who sells stuff on the black market, but more politically relevant and less stupid.

Just saw this flick the other day. Surprisingly hilarious, far exceeded my expectations. Well written and had good casting. That kid who played Hit Girl is going places. Mark my words.
