Looked like kind of a sloppy game. Maybe that can be attributed to "excellent defense" or something.

Duke. gross.

it is dead in terms of sports - not worth debating anything here anymore.

The tourney was full of mediocre teams. The one-year NBA rule has effectively killed deep, traditional programs making runs to the title. And the NCAA game is much worse off for it.

I mean I agree with your general point but it seems odd to make it on a night when Duke wins the title.

Teams can really only poise themselves for one-year runs. And there's no guarantee of success in that one year. It's pretty fucking lame.

Duke doesn't fit the mold I refer to - they have never recruited guys who are legit top NBA draft picks. Coach K goes after the guys who are going to be great in college but won't transcend to the next level - it works well for many reasons.

The rule kills the schools who want the hyped recruit/star. And he is using the school to showcase his personal talent the team be damned.

Yeah. I guess there haven't been too many Dukies in the last decade to make it in the pros. I mean who's the best? Shane Battier?

It makes me wonder why more coaches at big schools don't adopt that approach. Attention and money for a year, I guess. bleh.

It was a rough game, but mostly because the officiating was pretty bad. Not really in a one sided sort of way, but just inconsistent. They'd let them hack and all but tackle one minute, and then call touch fouls the next. But it didn't really affect the outcome. Butler left a lot of points out there with all the easy baskets they missed, so they have no one to blame but themselves. By the end you could tell Duke knew that they escaped moreso than won.

Quite possibly the most boring event ever.

Everyone is afraid to dribble the ball - they pass, pivot, and then pass again.

It is so boring.

I don't know how people get excited over this stuff.

Last year's championship game > this year's championship game

At least we'll always have the NIT...oh wait.
