Wasn't Strasburg sent down to the minors? Or are you seeing him pitch there?

What's this I am hearing about Pedroia? Caught the end of something today about him being injured I think?

I got opening day tickets for the Phils :) I would be more excited if Halladay was pitching but they start on the road.

i pitched in with 3 others on Rangers 4 x season tickets, 4 seats behind first base dugout. We're sitting down to choose which games we get. Get the seats for 20 games each. Got me kinda excited... just to have an excuse to go to the ballpark once every week or two.

Hopefully the Rangers live up to their expectations. Havent been to the playoffs in over a decade and havent won a playoff game in 15 years

The Red Sox foolish decision to name Varitek "captain" when his skills were in decline and their then subsequent re-signings of an essentially useless player to save face is killing Boston. Not to mention the fact that Lowell now is on a team that publicly tried to dump him, Ortiz misses his needles and can't hit at all anymore, Pedroia has thus car been only a one year wonder, Ellsbury has yet to do anything as a ML starter, and Mike frickin Cameron is a starter. That lineup is pretty awful. Besides Youkilis and VMart, nobody scares you and VMart will only see limited ABs unless they start playing him at first a ton or bench Ortiz. It's a poorly constructed mess.

I'd expect a big year from Beckett in his wall year though. The rotation should be decent, 1-3 at least.

samuel redman

Tek will hardly ever play (like late last season). I think they still score 850+ and will lead the AL in ERA+ imo. Pitching and defense will be their calling card.

pbe Strasburg is in Harrisburg so I'll get to see him often while he's here for a month.

I think Seattle has a chance to absolutely demolish the West.

PkPhuoko

I think Seattle has a chance to absolutely demolish the West.

Not totally convinced on their offensive abilities. Their lineup was terrible last year and they havent exactly made any earth shattering moves in that department. Ichiro and Figgins are great and then you have a below average remainder of a lineup.

They're they yin to the rangers yang. Gonna be a nice faceoff between the two of them.

Injuries are going to play a big part on the Mariners vs Rangers for the west. I'm not too confident in the Angels this season, but they'll stand a chance as well. Whoever makes out the best and whoever makes the best late season moves will take the west. Going to be an exciting season in the west for once.

Position comparison for HR/RBI/AVG:

(Victor in Bold)

C:

Yadier Molina 6/54/.293
Geovany Soto 11/47/.218

1B:
Obviously Pujols wins not even going to look up the stats

2B:

Skip Schumaker 4/35/.303
Mike Fontenot 9/43/.236

(This one you could argue both ways but as a leadoff hitter average would be more important than those 8 extra RBIs IMO.)

SS:

Brendan Ryan 3/37/.292
Ryan Theriot 7/54/.284

3B:

There is no clear frontrunner to start for the Cardinals, so Ramirez definitely wins here.

RF:

Ryan Ludwick 22/97/.265
Kosuke Fukudome 11/54/.259

CF:

Colby Rasmus 16/52/.251
Marlon Byrd 20/89/.283

LF:

Matt Holliday 24/109/.313
Alfonso Soriano 20/55/.241

So suck my dick and oh by the way the Cards pitching is pretty damn good with Carpenter, Wainwright, Lohse, and now Penny (Dave Duncan's latest rehab project) and if Ryan Franklin is as good as he was for most of the season thats will be a strong point. Cubs starters are good as well so it would basically be a wash depending on how good Zambrano is this year.

Went to the Phillies' home opener yesterday. A nice come from behind win that was good to see despite Rollins apparently headed to the DL. Hamels was a little better despite giving up more runs than his last start. More Ks and seemed a little more in control of himself. Not really, this was more a thank you to the fans sticking with the team all last season than anything else. They had Charlie Manuel out in the left field terrace deck raising it so it was a nice touch. Compared to the long-ish introductory ceremony, Navy SEAL parachute guys and some basketball coach throwing out the first pitch it was pretty short. Probably because they used three guys from the 'Pen last night. I'm guessing if he gets in any trouble in the bottom of the inning then he'll be yanked pretty quick.

Where are your seats at? I would recommend parking across the street near the Wachovia Center lot. It is usually much easier to get out.

Section 222. I'm friends with a Phillies employee who gave them to me.

Is that lot across from the one you parked at for PJ, or do ou mean further up from CBP?

pale blue eyes

Holy crap, is that right behind home plate? I hate you.

Well, most of it is all one big lot but it is across the street from Citizen's Bank. There is a lot next to the park, but it's TERRIBLE to get out of after games. Unless there is a concert or something at Wachovia, it should be easy to find a spot on the end of a row for a quick escape. I'll send you a PM when I get a chance.

Cool. It sucked ass for us to get out after that PJ show (we were in the lot between CBP and the Link if you recall). Look forward to the pm.

June 6: Young child caught on camera drinking out of a beer bottle at a Philadelphia Phillies game.

<!-- /hmedia --> A young child was caught on camera drinking from a beer bottle at a Philadelphia Phillies baseball game Sunday, MyFoxPhilly.com reported.
Video of the unidentified child surfaced on Monday after the Phillies lost to the Padres on Sunday.
In two video shots taken from an official game broadcast, the blonde child is seen with a plastic beer bottle in his right hand, drinking from the bottle.
The child appears to be between three and four years old, and is also wearing a white Phillies home jersey.
Once the clips leaked out on the Internet, it set off another round of Phillies – and Philadelphia – bashing.
“Phillies fans are an illustrious bunch. In the past year, they have vomited, prostituted and been Tasered. Now it appears that childhood drinking can be added to the list,” said the Huffington Post blog.
“Drinking beers at 4-years-old, forced vomiting on people by age 21. Who would allow a toddler to drink a beer, at $9 a bottle, I’m keeping that beer to myself,” said another blogger on Ted Williams Head.com.
The latest incident at the Phillies home ball park comes after two nationally publicized confrontations, where one fan vomited on six people, while another fan had to be Tasered by Philadelphia police on camera.

I don't even watch baseball, and holy shit that sucks.

Seriously, they should have replay for everything, not just fair/foul balls. Maybe do it like football, so each manager has a limited number of "challenges" per game.

Or have a 5th umpire somewhere in a room with film of the game. And if an ump honestly thinks he got it wrong, he can defer to the "extra" umpire.

Or something. Anything. Things like this shouldn't happen.

Currently injured and not on DL (but should be): Starting LF, backup OF and another starting P.

Ortiz is having a better season? And no a month ago he was the best hitter in baseball. He blew up to April 30, but since then he's put up some of the best numbers of his career. It's why Boston has the best offense in baseball (plus Beltre and Youk and so forth).

It's a joke Youk's not an All Star, but I wish no Red Sox were. Fuck the game. Give my guys the days off they need (now up to 16 of 25 on the DL).

Ortiz is having a better season?

No, he's not. Paulie is hitting almost 40 points higher and leading in all the rest of the major offensive categories. His team is also only a game out. Must be nice living like Boston is the center of the universe. What color is the sky there?

Youk might have just broken his foot with a foul ball. In the history of baseball, I seriously doubt a team has had this many injuries at the same time.

The only starting players not injured are at SS, 3B and LF. What the flying fuck. I'm going to put my head in the oven now.

But yeah, they've been playing out of their minds lately. Quentin has looked like he's finally turning it around. Now it's Beckham's turn. Here's hoping for a LH bat at the deadline. I really hope Kenny can use his persuasion skills to get Dunn for cheap. I don't think Fielder is gonna happen though.

Belte's playing so Young's not and isn't an All Star now. Unfortunately Young is on a plane to Anaheim and doesn't know he's actually not participating.
