I tried to do my taxes today and my current employer has my state of residence wrong (I'm assuming) so I'm being double-taxed by two states. Until they fix this error I owe about 6 hundo to The Bluegrass State.
View Full Version : My Taxes Are All Effed Up slunken 02-27-2010, 05:34 PM I tried to do my taxes today and my current employer has my state of residence wrong (I'm assuming) so I'm being double-taxed by two states. Gossamer 02-27-2010, 06:16 PM how did you get 65 grand back? hnibos 02-27-2010, 06:17 PM does your current employer really think you travel from kentucky to ohio for work i think youre from ohio sickbadthing 02-27-2010, 06:33 PM how did you get 65 grand back? I am a trillionaire. slunken 02-27-2010, 06:52 PM I live in KY but work in OH. My company has never dealt with an out-of-state employee so I'm sure it was something as simple as a little box they didn't click when preparing my tax info. Therefore I was paying Ohio taxes with my income. What's frustrating is that a move like this is so typical from them. And that TurboTax was going to let me pay it. slunken 02-27-2010, 11:37 PM Gimme my fuckin' munny. silent1 02-28-2010, 12:25 AM got 1200 back. 800 went to the state of michigan for unpaid driver responsibility fees. 300 went to paying tickets. i bought a pair of boots and some chicken nuggets with the rest. my license is still suspended. slunken 03-01-2010, 08:19 PM So my employers were taking Ohio tax out, not Kentucky's, and the tax rate in KY is double that of Ohio's. Even though I get Ohio's refunded I have to file in both states. And it looks like I'm going to be using 3/4 of my federal refund to pay for what I owe. FML. |
