Which song has the better guitar solo? Which song is overall better?

I'd have to say Here Is No Why. I love the solo so much in that one. It's fairly subdued compared to his other solos but it conveys so much emotion. The solo in Hello Kitty Kat is very good but it seems more flashy.

Tough call. The answer to all these questions is entirely mood dependent.

Here is No Why because the demo for HKK is better than the studio release and the demo of HINW is acoustic. More points.

It is a difficult choice because Here Is No Why is so shiny and beautiful, but Hello Kitty Kat is even better

Oh great, now my drunken mind must ponder this all night. Right off the bat I'd say there are no losers in this competition, but maybe I'm a little partial to the young feel and passion in Hello Kitty Kat.

The only thing saving Hello Kitty Kat in demo form is the line "Don't you wanna be mah frand?"

But the solo is much better on the demo. Maybe it's just longer though.

Stylistically, these solos are like apples and oranges. I can't really choose which is "better," they're both as good as each other in terms of what they add to the song and what they express.

I think HKK has the more interesting solo, in that it's a little subtler and isn't so much the typical ascension/descension solo.
Always fun to take a close listen. These songs are amazing. Yeah, redbull, that fuzz is unbeatable. . . even the bass is fuzzy. They're both super fun to sing; you can just wail at the top of your lungs.

Yeah, HINW is pretty exhilarating to play guitar to and sing. Like you MEAN it.

depressing living the original sp era, now, only to remember it by videos, rather than the circus show they call sp now.

isnt it funny how billy likes to take all credit for sp, but, since he's been on his own, hasn't really done anything comparable to the original sp.

Nice thread derailing, good job.

Here is no Why is a better song, Hello Kitty Kat has a better guitar solo.

Tarantula doesn't exist then, and neither does Superchrist.

When I listen to the solo from Hello Kitty Kat I immediately think of Hendrix. The Here Is No Why solo seems more unique. Less psychedelic.

I think I could comfortably live in a parallel universe where the songs Tarantula and Superchrist never existed.

I always thought the HINW solo sounded Weezer-esque. Also: what makes a solo "psychedelic"?

Catherine Wheel

It sounds like psychedelic rock from the 60s. Something Hendrix would play.

I think you might want to reconsider. How could you live having never heard "I don't want to fight, every single night?"

"Wherever you are, you're a star."

"Wherever you are, you're a star."

That's not even bad, and even if it was, the other 99.9% of the song more than makes up for it.

Both great songs, but Here is No Why is one of the very best.

It's a simplistic rhyme the way Corgan has always had simplistic rhymes ever since he started writing, "I don't wanna fight every single night" is about as good as "life's a bummer when you're a hummer" fer crissakes. It's not as if he suddenly developed a predilection for simple mind-numbingly easy rhyming schemes.

So long as we're talking about Hello Kitty Kat and song lyrics: "But I aim to please that little girl inside of me, too"...WTF? Strange lyrics for such a "passive-aggressive" sound (well, that's how Billy describes it in the PI booklet, and I tend to agree.)

Here is no why by far! On my SP top.

Because:
1) One of the songs with more feeling and emotion Billy wrote;
2) It has the beautiful Billy's voice which made me fall in love by them, that smooth voice with heavy guitars are the recipe for me;
3) Crazy awsome guitar riffs, with feeling itself;
4) Epic song name.
( 5) And it has one of the best demos ever made on this planet )

HKK is pretty good too, the buzz guitars are authentic Pumpkins.
