There is a mountain of un-released material in the “SP vault”, and no one has even seen the tip of the iceberg yet. With a new archive czar at the helm, we are sure to start seeing and hearing plenty of rare stuff. Frank will be serving as a public entity to interact with the fanbase to figure out the best and most innovative ways to get this material to the masses.

"I'm typing to you from the SP vault. Today is my first day on the job as the band's archivist. I had a glimpse of what is in the archive, and I just have one word to say about it. Massive! I'm sure you all want to know what is in store for you regarding the archive, and there are a lot of ideas about what to do. An idea that Billy had was to start a subscription service. The idea behind that is you would sign up and be given access to material from the archive. I want to see what you guys would be interested in.

We're going to set up a separate archive mailing list for people that would like to get more information about what we're doing. That should be going up very soon. You don't have to register on SP.com in order to sign up to the mailing list. This will be separate from the regular SP.com mailing list, so be sure to sign up if you are already a part of the other list. When you sign up for the mailing list, I will be giving regular updates with more information than what is in this blog. There will also be some surprises too!

For those of you who don't do message boards, and want to voice your opinion, you can send me an e-mail at [email protected]. If you are a member of the SP.com message board, you can voice your opinion in the new Archives sub-forum in the Live Recordings/Collecting forum. I will be dropping by every so often to answer questions and present some new ideas.

how about we set up a rat bastard fanclub and only the people who are member get a chance to buy the deluxe box set version of the book, for a reduced price. a couple of months later, the regular people will be given the chance to pay for a pdf download of the book.

Cool As Ice Cream

i have a new idea! we will set up a subscription service for say about $300 per year and you will get 200 releases in return.

with 1 release, we mean 1 word, by the way.

Cool As Ice Cream
12-30-2009, 05:01 AM
i have read a lot of negative feedback about this subscription service. thank you very much for misunderstanding me. this has never been about the money. but i also have bills to pay, and i already spent so much writing and archiving these archive update posts. all i intended was for this archive update compilation project to be self supporting. and when you add up all the costs, $300 is very reasonable, especially in the day of today, with all the piracy, and me sucking so much that basically nobody will be interested anymore, even if i'm selling old stuff.

Cool As Ice Cream
12-30-2009, 05:07 AM
i have been quiet the last weeks. but that doesn't mean i haven't been doing stuff LOL! anyway, these archive update compilations we have been working on, i just don't know it anymore. my heart just isn't in it anymore. i don't want to dwell on the past. this band is about the now and about the future. i don't want to waste any energy on negativism from the past. thanks for all the contributions but i'll just throw them away. ciao.

Since it's a new year, let's try something new...
Let's try to forgive each other, support each other, be kind in our words and deeds, and get out of judging each other...
The world around us right now is very complicated...
I for one am very confused by much of the information I come across...
I am concerned about so many losing their jobs, homes, and peaceful lives under an increasingly curious set of circumstances...there are however new opportunities to be had, even in the worst of times...we are all affected by the changes that are going on on a global scale...the politics of egoism and cultural divides mean very little if you can't support your family, or help those in need, even if you want to help...it is a test for us now to find how to heal each other...i believe very strongly in the power of prayer to affect change and welcome in forgiveness...
I don't mind asking publicly for your forgiveness...if I have offended you somewhere along the way, out of my own ignorance or fear, please forgive me...it would be part of my own healing to be forgiven...
I can honestly say that if I have ever wanted to do anything in this life it has been to heal others thru my work...i have failed many times to shine some light in this world, but I can still try and try again...

slunken
12-31-2009, 06:16 PM
"To the fans: without us working together, it would not have been a great year."

the body of the text should be color-coded as well, so the reader can easily pick up on the redundancy of the "archive updates".

for example, "been finding lots of really neat things" and all instances like it would be in green. "here are some jpgs of tickets (red), programs (blue), and cigarette butts (yellow)." a gold flake will be used when he speaks of actual music because it of its scarcity.

actually this would work really well as a comic strip.

OK, but the $15k doesn't in.clude membership to the fan club, which would in turn provide exclusive access to a painstakingly compiled list of all of the topics in the book and their corresponding page number, lovingly arranged for you, the fan, in alphabetical order.

Okay but I'm billing you for the cost of the tea. What size do you want the book? The smaller it is, the more pages. the more pages, the thicker the spine. coffee-table size might get you 6-8 pages, but a smaller size (less than half of 8.5 x 11) might yield 20 or more. i think small and cute might be the way to go. Like 4" high by 3.5" wide. i'll throw in a free decorative fly-leaf.

if i was smart i would just let an established label (large or small) handle all of this promotional legwork that way i can focus on making books (which is what i'm good at).

also: should the book end with "to be continued?" or "the end?" ?
