Yeah, he was good on the Adore songs. But it seemed like they changed every song so he'd have something to do in there, and they ended up with bland, torpid renditions of older songs

That's true. While I do dig the extended piano intro to "Thru the Eyes of Ruby" the rest of the song is just a bad rendition of the MCIS version. Also I never really got into the piano solo they stuck into the middle of Ava Adore (also putting a piano solo in the UC show version of Ava Adore sounded downright bizarre)
Also, its true that by having piano solos all over the place, it took away from James' always wacky & interesting guitar noodling.
Still, not to rag on the guy too much, he had a really interesting touch when it came to playing songs like "Blank Page", "Annie Dog" and "Le Duex Machina"

Yeah Mike Garson sucks, but I think I hate Flood more as he created a lasting element of suckiness while Garson only messed up some of the live songs.

Actually thinking about it, Mike Garson did really fuck up a lot of the live stuff with ludicrously over the top piano solos. We should club together to raise a fund to have someone break his fingers.

Totally. One thing that I loved about James' guitar playing was that he was great by just adding in really fucked up shit, it's a blast. I think he really started doing that in MCIS and he still got a chance to show off on some of the S & P shows (Rock On and Stand Inside Your Love are good examples of that). I hope if / when James releases a new album that its less acoustic stuff and more just of his wacky guitar playing - that was my favourite aspect of listening to Iha.
And while I do think Mike is a good piano player, they just gave him a little too much to do (notice the piano fills in the 2000 show versions of "Porcellina of the Vast Oceans") and tends to hog the spotlight a bit. I'm glad he's not in Zwan.
