okay so i'm going on a roadtrip Friday, and i want to introduce a carload of people to Yo La Tengo. I figure that i can give them a good scope of the band's best material, considering that the trip itself is 7 hours.

so far i have:

blue line swinger
night falls on hoboken

these two are never-fails, so please add your favourite tracks below!

I don't really have anything to contribute since I'm not a huge fan, but wouldn't 7 hours straight be rather overwhelming? Why don't you try introducing them to 3 or so bands in the case that the carload's not feeling Yo La Tengo?

That's what threw me off, I guess.

I've never been kayaking. I'm jealous. :(
You better take tons of pictures for the pic post thread, mang.

this might be a really odd choice but their cover of take care is one of my absolute favourites

Story of Yo La Tengo

Fully endorse that selection.

Would add the first three tracks of Electr-o-pura - that's all it took to perk my curiosity. I basically only know that album and Beat Your Ass, but those two albums are awesome.

YLT would be a great roadtrip band.

Electr-O-Pura could possibly be my favourite YLT record

even though 'Flying Lesson' sounds like a direct rip-off of 'Theresa's Sound World'

I quite like the song on the Dark Was The Night comp (I forget what it's called).
