All I've heard is 23 and I enjoy it.

Is now a good time to check out In An Expression of The Inexpressible?

well, 23 is a million times popper than in an expression... i would suggest "misery is butterfly" that is wonderful too

old blonde redhead is a little noisy

i really really love this band. feels like they've gotten better with every album even though they've narrowed their sound as they've gone along.

that's true
they've become less experimental and more pop
and i don't mean that as a bad thing as i like all of their records

this.

deep down sometimes i think i dislike radiohead solely for the fact that i really like the talking heads.

what about boris

slunken
07-16-2009, 05:08 PM
i think i'm missing the point, maybe. what about them? if they take the name from something else it's too common to be directly referential.

edit: ah, wiki states it's from the melvins. yea, what i said above. boris is vague enough it didn't HAVE to come from them. not like "blonde redhead" which is appropriating someone else's poetry.

i realized that blonde redhead were the first "indie rock" band i saw live, opening for the chili peppers and foo fighters. it was the first time i noticed "sound" vs "songs". still didn't like it though. too mediocre. they either need to be more shitty or more polished. shit or get off the pot.

i actually do not like deerhoof more than a couple tracks.
in fact i only like gigadance.
but i prefer listening to yoko ono.

publius clodius

what do yoko ono and deerhoof have in common except for the japanese vocalist part

do you need anymore than that?

i don't know

dog on the sidewalk kind of cookyness

seriously, i haven't heard deerhoof enough to comment i know, but when i did and i think of a track like "no,no,no" i can see some similarities

i feel like listening to catman now

now back to blonde redhead i was listening to self titled yesterday and i could actually see that the two brothers actually ate bachelors in jazz music, and i could see the sonic youth in your face kind of thing, but there is something so melodic about blonde redhead that's why i like it so much i think?

as for them pushing themselves i think "in an expression..." is the best example

I haven't seen them live, for some reason I think they wouldn't be able to sound as good as they do on their records.

Well, I did not have much to base it on so you may be right. It was a festival show and they were sort of a filler band between two bands I wanted to see.

It was two years ago, I honestly have no clue. I just remember we were walking from one stage to another stage clear across the park and we saw Blonde Redhead playing and briefly stopped to see them on our way. Like I said, vague.

I really like Yoko Ono.

I was joking anyway.

Partially, because the japanese are really good with experimental stuff.

And also because I do get a bit of "no,no,no" or "walking on thin ice" when I listen to Milk man.

but then again you'll get a bit of ono in a lot of places, considering she was so influential.

isn't there a song called dog on the sidewalk? that sounds a lot like some of yoko's work.

i'm a deerhoof fan i have several of their albums and they are nothing like yoko ono.

and lumping all non-white musicians into one category is racist.

i'm not lumping anything

what are you on? "non-white" musicians? holy shit. like steve wonder is in the same category?

saying a band that happens to have a japanese member is slighly influenced by yoko ono's work is racist? because you know, bikini kill is also influenced by her.

please don't jump into things like that.

do you listen to a lot of yoko ono? because I do.

I don't listen to a lot of deerhoof, all that I'm saying is that when I did somethings reminded me of Yoko Ono's work.

The girl from blonde redhead is japanese, and she sounds to me like she was influenced by kim gordon more.

This is about influences, not race ok? Jesus.

why do people bring "race" into everything? I even hate the word.

can we just talk about blonde redhead please?

i don't even like the word race like i said.
it makes me a little nauseous.

japan has a lot of good experimental artists tho.

and to call me a racist is delusional and far from the truth.

and i really like yoko ono.
