I handle checks every day. People find new and creative way to screw it up. Don't worry, you're not alone.

i wrote a $8.10 check for a pack of cigarettes, a snickers bar and a drink yesterday. total process took about 25 minutes- the cashier had no idea what to do.

I never have to write a check anymore.

Rent was the last thing I had to do it for, now I pay that online.

Don't you people have debit cards??

We put every purchase except our mortgage on an AmEx - our mortgage is taken from a bank account. I probably haven't written a check in 4 years.

I always hated writing them, too.

I hate writing checks because I hate waiting for them to clear, wondering if there's some secret check out there that's going to drain my account at the end of the month.

I don't see what the big deal with checks is.
it's obnoxious for use in a store, but I enjoy just writing a check when I get a bill and forgetting about it.

Criminy, haven't you guys seen those credit card commercials where it's like this factory where both the products and the customers are essentially on conveyor belts happily picking up their useless shit and paying for it and getting right back in line and somebody tries to pay with a check or YHWH forbid even paper money and the whole cheerfully soulless capitalist automaton shuts down and everyone frowns because their mindless routines have been fucked up and they don't want to have time to think about what they're doing

STOP USING CHECKS NO ONE HAS TIME YOU NEED TO BUY THINGS BUY THINGS BUY THINGS I'M BUYING THREE THINGS RIGHT NOW FROM AMAZON AND OVERSTOCK AND SOME WEIRD SITE MADE WITH FRAMES AND BLINKING GIFS

people who refuse to use checks are just difficult in my eyes. if a business can't accept credit card as payment, I would much rather write a check than go to the bank for cash or money order. it's extremely convenient, and generally I only write checks for important bills.

Fattening Ass

i use them, but that's not to say they aren't a terribly old, antiquated form of payment.

I had to walk around with $7000 in my pocket the other day. That was incredibly nerve-wracking.

I don't think I've even seen a check in RL. There are easier ways to exchange money.

My problem is that I don't particularly like my signature/cursive handwriting. As a designer, I find this particularly problematic. Been trying to change it, consciously, for a while now—I just haven't settled on a signature I actually like.

we learned how to write checks in elementary school. the only time i use them is for rent or sending money in the mail, personally i find them to be a bit outdated but they certainly have their uses.

some people just aren't willing to trust the internet and electronic payments. can't really blame them i guess

I found a paper from when I was 12 or 13 the other day, and my signature looked about the same.

i think i've written maybe 5 checks in my lifetime. my parents JUST got debit cards like a month ago. it's been funny to watch the transition for them.

as for my signature, i don't have one. i write my name real fast and make the first letters of my first and last names kinda big. boom.

it never really matters except when using a credit card in london they'd glare at your signature on the receipt and compare to the one on the card and be all "oh you sign differently." it was weird.
