View Full Version : Speed Kills Fav Version Joe 06-01-2009, 06:48 PM yeah it's a poll Rickpat12 06-01-2009, 06:50 PM 2008 20th anniversary tour version. So I guess put me down for Machina. It was one of my favorite moments during those shows. The ending is phenomenal. Skradgee 06-01-2009, 09:00 PM Machina II version sucks compared to the proper studio recording...although i can see why some people might like it since it's louder redbull 06-01-2009, 09:01 PM b0lly solo Corganist 06-01-2009, 10:40 PM April 1999 version. Thaniel Buckner 06-01-2009, 10:47 PM machina ii is doomtastic. even with the keyboards. cjs42079 06-02-2009, 07:47 AM Machina Acoustic Demos - the 13 remaster (yes I know people hate that stuff) Shallowed 06-02-2009, 08:08 AM I've only heard the Machina 1 version once or twice, I can't remember what it's like other than the vocal intro visionary of Bleeding the Orchid Martyr 06-02-2009, 08:14 AM Machina II by a log way. Shallowed 06-02-2009, 08:20 AM Just listened to M1 version on YouTube. Quite nice and spacey and dreamy. I'll still lean towards M2 for it's harder, less graceful, more grated performance. Slygmous 06-02-2009, 08:57 AM I enjoy all of them. Villarelo 06-02-2009, 08:57 AM Machina II by a log way. ^^ Even though the other version is still very cool. Another great song that BC left out of a standard album release... He is really good doing that  Martyr 06-02-2009, 09:02 AM ^^ Even though the other version is still very cool. Another great song that BC left out of a standard album release... He is really good doing that  I appreciate you not pointing out my spelling mistake. redbreegull 06-02-2009, 10:47 AM The Machina II version is fucking brutal. The lead guitar makes it. rolmos 06-02-2009, 11:01 AM I appreciate you not pointing out my spelling mistake. It's better than bad, it's good. Slurpee 06-02-2009, 01:07 PM Machina Acoustic Demos - the 13 remaster (yes I know people hate that stuff) Yeah I'll go with the MAD demos too. Or the acoustic solo live version. RenewRevive 06-02-2009, 03:53 PM not heard anything as good as the arising! tour version, but machina II version is the closest. the album/SIYL version, is pretty meh. slunken 06-02-2009, 04:48 PM machina II for the nostalgia. definitely in my top 5 list of songs. i remember actually buying a bootleg of the 1999-04-14 show on ebay, shortly after it occured, when that sort of thing really wasn't controlled yet. i mean hey, if yr willing to pay... ...but speed kills really really did it for me. so much beauty in that song. i like the line "we can groove at the speed of light". while a theme such as last rose of summer etc really isn't that groundbreaking, the song has a maturity and reverence about it that i can dig. i think it was performed beautifully. machina II version solidified that smoothness, IMO. it really takes me back to a certain time and place/wormhole effect. acoustic demo is pretty great too. Funky_Gibbon 06-03-2009, 03:27 PM The Pittsburgh Arising Tour version for me. Not the best recording of it I'm sure but I love that particular version. russian iha 06-03-2009, 03:47 PM M1 version really nailed it for me. I remember listening to SIYL single for the first time and feeling as if I am levitating or something. Don't know why did this song hit me so hard. trev 06-04-2009, 07:25 PM i remember the last time this poll happened the soft version won. good to see the rockin version is getting the cred due finally. Panthalassa 06-04-2009, 08:09 PM Machina version all the way, should have been on the (US) album. Joe 06-04-2009, 10:20 PM Machina version all the way, should have been on the (US) album. it was on the real version (vinyl) Shallowed 06-05-2009, 12:57 AM i remember the last time this poll happened the soft version won. good to see the rockin version is getting the cred due finally. It's more of that guitar solo that's like screaming to the heavens rather than the hardness that does it for me. Or something. strtj 06-05-2009, 02:29 PM April 1999 version. Yes. The intro is especially good. dustrock 06-05-2009, 02:48 PM Love the drum sound on M2 as well. I thought the 20th Anniversary 1.0 version was extremely well done as well. well well well pumpkingrrrl 06-11-2009, 01:59 PM Speed Kills is one of my favorite songs from the Machina era. The Machina version is better, imo. Springbridge 06-11-2009, 07:36 PM I liked the version of Speed Kills released as a bonus track on the Japanese Machina II. That one should be in the poll. You Said 06-12-2009, 01:12 AM what ever one has the guitar whale like sounds. Gish08 06-12-2009, 07:53 AM Machina 2 ver should have been a single. jasminetea 06-14-2009, 01:45 PM cant choose. i'm simply grateful that several studio versions exist. beautiful song, whatever version (studio or live) will do seriously. @Rickpat, yeah recent live version is very, very good. Joe 06-16-2009, 02:56 PM looks like it's pretty even. threetwooneZERO 06-16-2009, 05:12 PM I'll say! dudehitscar 06-16-2009, 05:58 PM M2 version.. the slamming entrance to the song fits with the car crash in the storyline very well and the hendrix like 'slow' guitar playing is great. Tons of fun squeaks and bends. dudehitscar 06-16-2009, 09:11 PM musically the M2 version reminds me of the live electric Disarm from Viephoria. Anyone else agree? bozo 06-21-2009, 09:54 PM What about the fucking Sadlands version.... Which reminds me; Lover, Laugh, and Here I Am kick ass. davin 06-30-2009, 03:06 AM 2008 20th anniversary tour version. yea, its quite good. jeff's guitar work is great. i would prolly say arising version, then 2008 live, then machina ii, then machina. |
