View Full Version : Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien starts next week. Thaniel Buckner 05-26-2009, 05:18 PM it's been way too long without that guy in my life. threetwooneZERO 05-26-2009, 05:19 PM I'm anxious. Not too sure what to expect. Joe 05-26-2009, 05:38 PM i was just telling pale this the other day how i miss my conan fix, i'm counting down the days. we miss you cone-pony!!!! Mo 05-26-2009, 05:54 PM Conan in LA. This is gonna be interesting. ohnoitsbonnie 05-26-2009, 06:19 PM Joyless bastards ohnoitsbonnie 05-26-2009, 06:19 PM LET'S MAKE SOME SEX Joe 05-26-2009, 06:23 PM i'm wondering if he is going to bring the whole gang or if he is just going to walk into the tonight show, the final ep made me think he was going to drop the late night crew, but i guess we will just have to wait and see Nimrod's Son 05-26-2009, 06:25 PM The first show is going to be killer. I can't wait. Nimrod's Son 05-26-2009, 06:26 PM i'm wondering if he is going to bring the whole gang or if he is just going to walk into the tonight show, the final ep made me think he was going to drop the late night crew, but i guess we will just have to wait and see The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tonight_Show_with_Conan_O%27Brien) Many members of the Late Night cast and crew will make the transition to The Tonight Show: The Max Weinberg 7, the house band from O'Brien's Late Night, will serve as house band on O'Brien's new show;[3][4] Andy Richter, who served as O'Brien's sidekick from 1993 to 2000, will be the show's announcer; Jeff Ross, who served as O'Brien's Late Night executive producer in New York, will assume the same role for Tonight.[1] It is also known that frequent actors and writers for the series such as Brian McCann (probably best known for his characters Preperation H Raymond, S&M Lincoln, the angry bar patron at Joe's, etc), Brian Stack (God, The Interrupter, Artie Kendall the Bigoted 1940s Crooner Ghost), Pierre Bernard and presumably most others will make the move along with head writer Mike Sweeney. Trotskilicious 05-26-2009, 06:29 PM so how bad does jimmy fallon suck Nimrod's Son 05-26-2009, 06:35 PM he's incredibly bad. like, chevy bad. at least magic was bad like watching a train wreck. Trotskilicious 05-26-2009, 06:39 PM I'd like to say I'm surprised but I'm really not. I wonder if Lorne Michaels is going to commit to him like he did Conan or finally come to his senses and realize that Jimmy Fallon was never and will never be funny. Of course now it's time for Craig Ferguson to shine in that time slot so it's just as well. beef curtains 05-26-2009, 06:43 PM andy richter... from awesome sidekick to failed tv show to announcer. What a shitty life Trotskilicious 05-26-2009, 06:44 PM i'm sure it beats doing whatever it is you do Sylvia Woods 05-26-2009, 06:44 PM Andy Baker PI was good stuff Trotskilicious 05-26-2009, 06:45 PM he was in a few movies too, i don't think his life is "shitty" dumb, F- for the comment. barden 05-26-2009, 07:20 PM Conan in LA. This is gonna be interesting. what does that even mean to you? Trotskilicious 05-26-2009, 07:26 PM it sounds like something somebody would say on an entertainment show "Gosh whiz, Conan in L.A.! This is gonna be interesting!" (huge phony grin & laugh). what does it matter where the fuck he is barden 05-26-2009, 07:28 PM especially to a European, who only has imported ideas on the place he's speaking about, mostly from other TV programs I guess. Trotskilicious 05-26-2009, 07:31 PM the interesting bit is wondering if he's going to change his style, moving to 1130 Joe 05-26-2009, 09:01 PM as far as changing for the time slot, he will get to use all of lenos old bits that he isnt carrying to the 10o'clock show. and jimmy fallon, wow he is really bad, i watched like the first week of unfunny shows and havent watched sence. hopefully he will get fired. and i really like the chase show, i thought it was funny and now someone replies "you would' Trotskilicious 05-26-2009, 09:06 PM conan's first year was terrible but then again conan had a background of being funny and jimmy fallon has fever pitch Mo 05-27-2009, 02:17 AM what does that even mean to you? You just don't get me. So sad. threetwooneZERO 05-27-2009, 02:39 AM ugh, trots killed this thread. you are a fuck. Trotskilicious 05-27-2009, 02:39 AM Why don't you write a song about it? Trotskilicious 05-27-2009, 02:40 AM ps threetwooneZERO 05-27-2009, 02:40 AM Did you just edit your post to say that? FUCKING LOSER! Trotskilicious 05-27-2009, 02:42 AM yeah because i was responding to what antipop was saying but you posted while i was doing it what are you on about? Ugly 05-27-2009, 10:49 PM Conan ain't changin shit. Triumph and Masturbating Bear are showing up in the first week. He's going to be the last guest on Leno's last Tonight Show stint on Friday. They tried to get Johnny to do a "passing of the torch" interview with Leno when he left but Johnny nixed that idea, at least Leno is being nicer. (Considering how Leno really isn't going anywhere expect 10 PM, that probably isn't that big a deal) Ugly 05-27-2009, 10:53 PM Also Falon isn't going anywhere, either. His ratings, shockingly, dumbfoundingly, leveled out to equal with Conan's numbers. That's one of those things where you just kind of wonder about the taste level of people out there. to be fair, I'd assume Falon is funnier than Furgison, so he doesn't have much competition (the last half-hour of Kimmel from 12:30 to 1 PM is just guest run-off and usually a pretty shitty band). I watched Falon's first episode and half of his second or third. That's it. I'm done. I gave him a full show and a little bit. That's enough. beef curtains 05-27-2009, 10:54 PM i'm sure it beats doing whatever it is you do which sure beats the hell out of what you do Just saying he should have stayed on as a sidekick... being the announcer is a big fucking disappointment IMO Ugly 05-28-2009, 12:13 AM He'll be sidekicking the fuck out of it here, and they'll definitely be bantering back and forth (while Andy is aside in his annoucer's podium and not on the couch but whatever) who cares what his official job title is. Aside from the pre-interview banter, Andy really didn't do anything else during the lion's share of the show. (Yes, he had some great moments with the guests, but those were rare and only notable because, really, he didn't DO anything most of the time) ohnoitsbonnie 05-28-2009, 12:37 AM Seriously you guys there are better things to talk about Hypocaust 05-28-2009, 01:32 AM But, Ugly has the inside line on these things. He obviously knows what's going to happen. Before it happens. And we need to know about these things. These things that only he seems to know will happen. It's like, the bible, man. Ugly, are you jesus? Trotskilicious 05-28-2009, 03:32 AM which sure beats the hell out of what you do that's not the point, you called someone more successful than you are a failure. Why? Just saying he should have stayed on as a sidekick... being the announcer is a big fucking disappointment IMO it's the same thing and he probably had a lot more fun "failing" than he would have if he stayed a sidekick. Nimrod's Son 05-28-2009, 03:35 AM Ed McMahon was also technically an "announcer" Trotskilicious 05-28-2009, 03:36 AM I'd assume Falon is funnier than Furgison, you'd be incredibly wrong there Ferguson is hysterical, and he is an improv comic. It's almost like The Late Show with Eddie Izzard. I also love his "Rather Late Show with Prince Charles" bit. beef curtains 05-28-2009, 09:55 AM it's the same thing and he probably had a lot more fun "failing" than he would have if he stayed a sidekick. you don't understand. it ruined my TV watching and frankly he should have consulted me first Ugly 05-29-2009, 05:54 PM But, Ugly has the inside line on these things. He obviously knows what's going to happen. Before it happens. And we need to know about these things. These things that only he seems to know will happen. It's like, the bible, man. Ugly, are you jesus? It's not a matter of being psychic, it's really not that hard to read Ain't It Cool News, considering how they had a set-report from the rehearsal show, like, 4 days ago. Trotskilicious 05-29-2009, 05:55 PM yet you still don't know who craig ferguson is or how to spell his name Ugly 05-29-2009, 05:56 PM You're going off on a spelling error? Really? Trotskilicious 05-29-2009, 06:02 PM you said he was worse than jimmy fallon which you'd have to be chevy chase to be. course you have the sense of comedy of a wet lump of sand so i guess it's understandable Ugly 05-29-2009, 06:11 PM Okay, I'm sorry I insulted the Chinese guy who is on after Letterman, happy? Trotskilicious 05-29-2009, 06:13 PM No. Nimrod's Son 05-30-2009, 03:45 AM uh oh. andy richter was just on carson daly and said that there won't be a lot of "childish humor" and that most of the odd quirky stuff will be left behind. Nimrod's Son 05-30-2009, 03:45 AM and that conan needs to "challenge himself" and do a "broader show at 11:30" sppunk 05-30-2009, 09:32 AM There's no way his show can stay the same - you have to dumb it down so much for the larger audience. Leno probably wouldve been great on a late, late show but had to settle into predictable, boring shit for the networkam Trotskilicious 05-30-2009, 10:31 AM yeah that's what i figured. of course with the same head writer (who is a member of Clan Mac Suibhne) they'll probably do ok. Letterman is still funny. beef curtains 05-30-2009, 10:45 AM Letterman is still funny. :nooooo: And that sucks about Conan becoming less quirky. sppunk 05-30-2009, 10:55 AM Letterman's better now than 10 years ago. It's just different. You probably either love or hate him now. Trotskilicious 05-30-2009, 12:59 PM I've always liked Dave. Thaniel Buckner 05-30-2009, 08:33 PM it's really amazing to me that leno always got better ratings than letterman. leno is usually the antithesis of funny. his writers always seemed to forget that a punchline was something the audience should not be expecting. sppunk 05-30-2009, 08:47 PM it's really amazing to me that leno always got better ratings than letterman. leno is usually the antithesis of funny. his writers always seemed to forget that a punchline was something the audience should not be expecting. You are completely overestimating the mental capacity of the general population. This is a country that considers Red Lobster fine dining and people like Brittany Spears talented. Jay Leno in his Tonight Show form, to them, is a god. ravenguy2000 05-30-2009, 08:53 PM There was an article written about him a few years back, I don't remember what magazine it is. But apparently he's been doing a standup show at the same club, once a week for years and his material has never changed or updated, at all, ever. And of course people come to see him because he's Jay but the author marveled at the way he could just peel off hours and hours of jokes which never strayed far from Monica Lewinski, OJ Simpson, and Michael Jackson. I guess for some people it's like chicken soup in comedy form. Nimrod's Son 05-30-2009, 09:21 PM I wish I had the entire Bill Hicks rant somewhere on Leno, where he talks about the gy selling out and his entire career trajectory. sppunk 05-30-2009, 09:36 PM I thought his stand-up routine was still considered to be good? Guess I'm wrong on that - but I swear I heard when he did his Vegas run a few years ago people were saying how good it was. wounded 05-30-2009, 10:04 PM You are completely overestimating the mental capacity of the general population. This is a country that considers Red Lobster fine dining and people like Brittany Spears talented. Jay Leno in his Tonight Show form, to them, is a god. do all the jay leno bashing you want in this thread, but a cheap shot at red lobster is uncalled for! neopryn 05-30-2009, 11:38 PM i watched Leno last night just for Conan and was seriously astounded at how unfunny he was. Like if I didn't know it was a comedy program going in I wouldn't have understood what was going on at all. The Jaywalking segment was mildly amusing but that's just because of the dumbass people. Trotskilicious 05-31-2009, 12:01 AM it's really amazing to me that leno always got better ratings than letterman. leno is usually the antithesis of funny. his writers always seemed to forget that a punchline was something the audience should not be expecting. basically half the country likes what they're expecting and the other half like the unexpected... beef curtains 05-31-2009, 12:24 AM do all the jay leno bashing you want in this thread, but a cheap shot at red lobster is uncalled for! cheesy biscuits.... mmmmm Trotskilicious 05-31-2009, 12:27 AM Takin' women out to eat, givin' 'em free meals? What part of the game is that? You takin' her to Red Lobster with the cheddar biscuits. The fam ain't eatin' cheddar biscuits but this random broad is eatin' cheddar biscuits. Game recognize game and you lookin' kinda un-fam-iliar right now. I - I can't... Where's Granddad? Can I help you, sir? samuel redman 06-01-2009, 02:40 PM bump bump Elvis The Fat Years 06-01-2009, 02:49 PM for what what? Caine Walker 06-01-2009, 03:32 PM tonight tonight! Nimrod's Son 06-01-2009, 05:08 PM SP post on gen chat board Caine Walker 06-01-2009, 05:48 PM i'm taking it like a man. agenda suicide 06-01-2009, 11:32 PM uhhhh so how about that peal jam performance? Joe 06-01-2009, 11:39 PM ^ pearl jam sucks conan is back and great as usual, it's good to see the tonight show change for conan and not conan change for the tonight show, now off to watch fergerson threetwooneZERO 06-01-2009, 11:40 PM Overall I was happy with the show. I'm really digging the set. I wasn't sure if he would pull out the string dance...in the end he knew he had to do it. But what the fuck was up with Andy? It looked like he was on Ketamine tonight acting all crazy eyed. Trotskilicious 06-02-2009, 03:21 AM it was pretty lame i got bored midway through will Farrell. seems like the tonight show predictability carried over. andy was a highlight for me though. wounded 06-02-2009, 06:18 AM i liked the PJ song, but the sound was awful. they need to get that shit fixed. land of the lost looks pretty bad doesn't it? Starla 06-03-2009, 02:58 AM del Nimrod's Son 06-03-2009, 03:36 AM will Farrell typo! typo!!!!! typo!!!! NOT HIS NAME TYPO!!OP!!!@#J Nimrod's Son 06-03-2009, 03:37 AM conan looked and acted incredibly uncomfortable. also they need to shut off richter's mic when he's not talking... his stupid laugh when the audience isn't is .. pathetic. pearl jam's song was fine, but the audio mix was terrible. also vedder sounded like he had a cold Trotskilicious 06-03-2009, 10:53 AM typo! typo!!!!! typo!!!! NOT HIS NAME TYPO!!OP!!!@#J man you're getting real desperate what is this even supposed to accomplish beef curtains 06-03-2009, 04:01 PM man you're getting real desperate what is this even supposed to accomplish he's getting the foreplay over as quickly as possible Nimrod's Son 06-03-2009, 04:12 PM man you're getting real desperate what is this even supposed to accomplish oh you mean you hadn't just before that gone off on someone for a typo? Joe 06-03-2009, 04:39 PM conan still rules, and the set is awesome seign 06-03-2009, 08:15 PM I thought he's been doing incredibly well so far. It's a lot like the old show but Conan really seems more invigorated. He's totally into it an relaxed like he's always been there. Also, it was a major shock (in a good way) to see Andy Richter back. I had no clue that he was going to be the new announcer until I tuned into the show for the first time. Another thing to note: it seems that a lot of the self-depricating jabs at himself and his show are gone. You know, the whole "All 23 of you watching tonight" schtick. seign 06-03-2009, 08:17 PM the set is awesome The background looks a lot like the one Jay used only in blue instead of purple, am I right? Joe 06-03-2009, 08:43 PM The background looks a lot like the one Jay used only in blue instead of purple, am I right? i would say no. both sets are oriented the same way, but the sets are completly diff, lenos set was wood and squares and borring, where conans is round and stary, and shiny, it is almost an homage to the old conan rounded set, only much much brighter. threetwooneZERO 06-04-2009, 02:29 AM In the year 3000..... Trotskilicious 06-04-2009, 11:10 AM oh you mean you hadn't just before that gone off on someone for a typo? no it was because he said he was awful ravenguy2000 06-04-2009, 12:58 PM Set = mario bros. http://www.bestweekever.tv/bwe/images/2009/06/j8cx21.gif AndySlash 06-04-2009, 01:00 PM fuck shannon 06-04-2009, 06:10 PM http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a180/cheesetits/seriouslunch_conan.gif<t> i'd like to put my ass between those hands! shannon 06-04-2009, 06:11 PM :erm: agenda suicide 06-04-2009, 06:24 PM totally unnecessary, floppy. barden 06-04-2009, 06:25 PM dont listen to her i loved it. samuel redman 06-04-2009, 06:29 PM barden i need to know if ravenguy2000 06-04-2009, 08:49 PM what did floppy post agenda suicide 06-04-2009, 08:53 PM he posted the picture five times in a row. am I the only one who finds this annoying?
