Yeah, I'll throw this up there with Nimmy defending the catholic church. Luke de Spa 05-24-2009, 03:05 AM i've gotta figure out how to make the paneer. it'd be easy to make at home. it's one of the easiest cheeses to make: How to make Panir (http://biology.clc.uc.edu/fankhauser/Cheese/Panir.html) if you're going to make curry with paneer, i recommend cooking everything except the rice a day in advance. the paneer will absorb lots of flavour from the gravy overnight, and you can just reheat the curry in a microwave oven pale_princess 05-24-2009, 03:45 AM thnx lds! ohnoitsbonnie 05-24-2009, 04:44 AM i love fried jalapenos but they make me shit so bad. love 'em. and im with bonnie. i havent had over 500 calories in a while. i like to fast. like i havent eaten since tuesday but last night i had a slice of pizza and some texas toast. and today i had some mashed taters. ChristHimself! 05-24-2009, 08:02 AM oh and that isnt rocket actually. the rocket was soggy and old so i just used mixed leaves. agenda suicide 05-24-2009, 11:34 AM i love fried jalapenos but they make me shit so bad. love 'em. and im with bonnie. i havent had over 500 calories in a while. i like to fast. like i havent eaten since tuesday but last night i had a slice of pizza and some texas toast. and today i had some mashed taters. wtf why are you fasting?! you people need to eat i finally got over my hatred of peas. they were all up in my shrimp fried rice and i was just too dang hungry to waste time taking them out. not bad, i guess. but i dont want giant servings of them. now i just gotta get over hating olives, tomatoes and a few other things. also, you're crazy. tomatoes and olives are so so so good. Sepiae 05-24-2009, 12:27 PM This morning, my boyfriend and I went to the creperie for breakfast. We split a bacon and gruyere crepe and a s'mores crepe, which was good but a bit much. Last night we got wings and a prosciutto and ricotta pizza. Hooray, gym. sppunk 05-24-2009, 01:06 PM I had the best hummus of my life last night at Wolf Trap of all places. I had chicken tikka marsala for lunch - probably grilling some pork chops for dinner. ChristHimself! 05-24-2009, 01:22 PM I had chicken tikka marsala for lunch did you know tikka masala was invented in glasgow interesting fact for you there sppunk 05-24-2009, 01:31 PM I didn't know Glasgow but I know it's not Indian food really whatsoever. Still good stuff. ChristHimself! 05-24-2009, 01:36 PM tikka itself is traditional indian tandoori chicken, but it comes dry supposedly some bloke asked for a sauce for it in the 50s or 60s in some indian restaurant in glasgow and the chef came up with it, which is why the sauce ingredients tend to vary so wildly depending on where you get it edit: when im drunk i go peasant style and get a tikka masala with chips instead of rice ohnoitsbonnie 05-24-2009, 01:51 PM I like lamb rogan josh ChristHimself! 05-24-2009, 01:56 PM my standard curry for years and years was a madras, but it's too spicy for the missus i tend to get a dopiaza if i'm at a good indian apart from that i'll eat most curries, but im not mad keen on jalfrezis, and kormas tend to be hit and miss. i love curries. pale_princess 05-24-2009, 02:01 PM edit: when im drunk i go peasant style and get a tikka masala with chips instead of rice my man got this recently at a restaurant and i didn't know it was a thing! seemed yummy. homemade burgers tonite! pale_princess 05-24-2009, 07:48 PM http://photos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs003.snc1/4401_91717097469_508967469_2367129_3549774_n.jpg emmenthal & avocado burger. also, i bought the ingredients for matar paneer! will be having perhaps tuesday? Sepiae 05-24-2009, 08:00 PM That looks quite good. Tonight was a tuna melt (mixed with plain Greek yogurt, not mayo) with Port Salut cheese and spinach on quinoa bread and a side of grapes. mercurial 05-24-2009, 08:12 PM hungover sunday left me hankering for something wholesome to eat that night. picked up a nice leg of free range organic lamb at the market in the afternoon. rubbed that puppy up with loads of sea salt, black pepper, bit of cumin, lots of fresh rosemary and olive oil. put it in the oven and cooked it slow and low for about 5 or 6 hours. perfect. made a gravy out of the pan juices (mirepoix, butter, red wine, stock) and served with sesame seeded green beans, roasted pumpkin and a roasted garlic and potato mash. did i say perfect? leftover roast lamb sandwiches with red onion, baby spinach, some leftover pumpkin and hot mustard for lunch today. pale_princess 05-24-2009, 09:16 PM i want sepiae's tuna melt! i am not a fan of lamb but my dude is. roasted garlic mashed taters, though, i looooooooove! sppunk 05-24-2009, 09:20 PM Tonight I made a mixed green salad with grilled chicken, tomatoes, dries cranberries, onions, walnuts, cucumbers and Dijon dressing. pale_princess 05-24-2009, 09:22 PM delicious, except for the tomatoes! sppunk 05-24-2009, 09:32 PM They were cherry tomatoes, if that makes a difference for you. mercurial 05-24-2009, 09:48 PM you dont make friends with salad Trotskilicious 05-25-2009, 04:50 AM This is about as accurate as anything... well. For an intelligent guy, you can be pretty fucking stupid sometimes. Yeah, I'll throw this up there with Nimmy defending the catholic church. i'm sick of people acting like hummus is some kind of delicacy. It is gritty and bland and tastes very much like mud. Every time I've given it a try I've completely regretted it. Yet I keep trying it because there's so many people who act like it's the best thing since cheese. And there are so many other things that actually taste good and have a pleasing consistency, I can't possibly fathom why anyone outside of the middle east would want to bother eating this. I'd rather eat a six pound block of feta cheese before I'd even take a sample of hummus again. I mean this is just generally kind of like the whole problem with the general cuisine in the first place, I mean there's good shit like gyros and shishkebabs and cucumber yogurt and fucking feta (hell yes) but there's so much gritty, salty, or vinegary shit in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food, I just don't understand the fad at all. And before anyone tries to bark up my ass like I don't know what I'm talking about I worked at a "Mediterranean" restaurant for several months. I don't particularly like olives that much in the first place and they're fucking everywhere. i dunno how you're going to compare a statement of taste with something of total factual inaccuracy but you can go stick yer hummus up your ass where it belongs. Trotskilicious 05-25-2009, 04:51 AM what in the fuck is good about hummus DiscoJon 05-25-2009, 05:09 AM what in the fuck is good about hummus I doubt you'll find good hummus in that shit state you live in. Stick to BBQ and sucking dick and you'll be fine. yeah i guess all the lebanese and iranian people i worked for didn't know what good hummus was or all the middle easterners and arabs that were in the restaurant all the time ordering hummus. i mean what do they know really. being from lebanon and iran and yemen and iraq. white people from new hampshire are the only people who know what good hummus is. ChristHimself! 05-25-2009, 05:52 AM there's a good few different kinds of hummus man maybe the place you worked at did one that just wasn't to your taste pale_princess 05-25-2009, 06:06 AM what i dislike about hummus is that it's that thing your "funky aunt" that practises buddhism and wears sarongs brought to the family gathering in 1999... and still does. as much as i like hummus, i'll take babaganoush over it any day of the week. Mo 05-25-2009, 06:14 AM You people are making me hungry.
