I think not, but maybe SP has a chance. Who would've thought these two titans of rock would ever be pitted against each other?!

I don't even like Muse a hell of a lot, I wouldn't have cared if I didn't go to their concert, but I did, and I enjoyed it more than SP's this year. I'm thinking that next time I see SP they will be a lot better, judging by their live shenanigans and ongoings. And their performances actually look and sound great now.

In the context of what song is better in the trailers - I think Pumpkins definitely.

But it's interesting watching those videos, I could never see SP getting a stadium crowd whipped up like that. Maybe in the 90's but definitely not now. I just don't think they are a stadium band, they are better suited to smaller venues.

It's definitely a two way thing - the crowd feed off the band and the band feed off the crowd but Billy can't lay the blame soley at our feet. It would help if fans didn't go to shows with a foreboding that they are gonna get a telling off aswell.

Anyway I went off on a tangent there...

sp are better, i'd always take them over muse and billy is certanily the better writer overall of music for film. i love muse but haven't seen them.

though i've said it and i'll say it again, the theme song for the recent james bond movie should have been written by muse, not jack white and alicia keys. that was just weird and too quirky for the most action-packed bond ever.. plus Quantum of Solace is just a quintessentially Muse title that you know they would've worked wonders with

i fucking love muse... but the sp trailer really is pretty great. there are only a handful of current bands that i think are really fucking incredible, and muse is certainly one of them. 1994-1996 era sp could certainly compete with (and totally destroy) muse, but the 2008 sp? not so much. But just based on the two trailers, as this competition is, sure they can.

muse is surely a fun band and I would love to see them live.

They need an extra guitarist on stage though.. that would take their sound to a new level live.

now i'm no expert on muse, the only album i had was Showbiz when it came out, but i did stop listening to it because i preferred radiohead. but that was old muse. ive heard some more recent stuff and its good, but im not in love. and it does not sound like radiohead by any means.

Everything I have heard from Muse sounds a lot like really boring, uninspired Radiohead. So. I dunno. A lot of people say Coldplay doesn't sound like Radiohead either. Now I like Coldplay a bit, but they do sound like Radiohead.

I didn't expect you to be a Muse apologist. Geez. I really don't know how you can say that they don't sound like Radiohead... at least their more popular stuff, which is what I have heard. I mean, they sound a lot more like Radiohead than Silversun sounds like SP, and people drop that one all the time here.

"I don't think we'd be anywhere if Radiohead didn't exist. I think we're like why Diet Coke was big. Because some people couldn't handle Coke. That's how I see Coldplay."

as for Muse, they're surprisingly good at times (futurism, the groove, fury etc.), but usually quite dull and gimmicky and I do get the Radiohead comparisons on certain occations.

I've heard they're extremely fun band to watch live

The Pumpkins trailer is like 300% better than the one that uses Muse. Even though I like Muse, they're not as good as the Pumpkins and their song goes nowhere near to capturing the atmospheric brilliance of the Watchmen the way the Pumpkins song does.
