I am listening to this for the first time. I didn't really think I would like it but I like it a lot.

What is your opinion on this album.

Solid, great, underrated (in the mainstream media, at least), I wish I could've seen them live on their reunion tour last year.

Allmusic says it's kind overrated.

Maybe you should write them a letter.

No not really. I mean I think they mean it in a different context.

But anyway.

still one of the best post-punk albums ever. the riffs are unsurpassed in their clattering, off-kilter angularity, and the lyrics and dry production really evoke the claustrophobic darkness of postmodern southern gothic americana. (/bs)

best moments: when the 'rollercoaster' riff of breadcrumb trail kicks in and the vocals do the hypnotic call-and-response thing with the lead guitar part that sounds like nightmarish bagpipes.

Maybe it was interesting for its time, but when I first listened to it last year I found it pretty boring, especially lyrically

When I first purchased it on vinyl several years back, while standing in line, Gavin Rossdale pointed at it and gave me a thumbs up and a big grin, then proceeded to explain to Gwen something along the lines of "that album changed everything I ever knew about music." She seemed confused.

Two thumbs up. The primordial link between math-rock and post-rock.

I like it but I find it hard to listen to the entire thing in one sitting. It's not that it is bad but or anything but I usually get three or four songs in and then I have to put something else on.

still one of the best post-punk albums ever.

how many times do i have to point these things out until you stop talking about music as if you knew anything about it in terms of genres and influence etc
