Oh, I`m definitely interested in an upgrade of the copy I have.
That "live from London" line brings back memories. I was at that show and didn`t know that MTV Europe were doing a live broadcast. My brandnew girlfriend didn`t know either, she just hung out with some friends at home that night, coincidentally switched to MTV Europe and saw me in the crowd (I checked when I got a copy on VHS a couple of months later and it was true). The next day we talked on the phone and she told me that she saw me live on TV, boy I was so proud. And they all lived happily ever after...

thanks very much lucid. any chance you guys can share the dvd at some point?
i took a similar snapshot to compare:

previous snapshot from lucid...

my tape...

not much of a difference. looks better on screen i think. i forgot to mention they broadcast an interview and one song from the support act so i'd like to ******* that too, even though they weren't exactly the best band going.

that looks like an improvement, and with some deinterlacing it will look even better, have you done any remastering of the footage yet,

i found a great online guide which spans several pages and covers everything you need to know about capturing, remastering etc
http://arstechnica.com/guides/tweaks/vidcap.ars

also what vcr did you use to copy the tape? that makes a big difference in the quality of the footage, any vcrs with tbc's (time base correctors) do a lot of the remastering automatically using built in harware and software.

jvc s-vhs hr series with tbc's are the best available, they can be picked up cheaply on ebay.

it was copied using vhs/dvd recorder, i'll find out which model it was. i was a bit unhappy to find out that the audio is now dolby ac3 256 but there are a few minor audio dropouts here and there anyway so that's why i want to check out all the other sources first. the guy has a few players so i'll see if any can do pcm audio.
mention deinterlacing and i start thinking maybe someone else might like to make a dvd of it. if anyone would like to, let me know.

BWBW and TRansmission were seeded by an MPEG ripping group (remember those??) way back. Spaldz's source must be a different cap.
