I'm guessing where they will be going with this will be more clear in future commercials. i thought it was going to be a little more of a direct jab at apple. Not sure if this will counter the mac v. pc ads or not. isn't seinfeld a mac user anyway?

Obviously the ad was more to soften the image of Microsoft (which is synonymous with BG) It definitely brought out a lighter side which is refreshing. I'm actually more impressed that the ad didn't attack Mac.

Microsoft really needs to learn how to advertise, being a monopoly they forgot how to compete. I think they have pretty much given up on vista and this is all setting up for the next OS in a year or two. Letting Apple beat up on them for 2 years was really stupid.

they should've done an ad parodying "the contest." whoever can go the longest without using windows to look up porn for masturbatory purposes wins. in addition to the seinfeld reference, it would also showcase whatever it is you can do with windows aside from look at porn, but the implication is that it is primarily a porn-gathering device.

This shit cracks me up. I love the commercial they made for this. "HEY, it really doesn't suck that much, you just have to learn how to use it properly." It's a little sad when you have to resort to marketing like this.

..A senior vice president in Microsoft's central marketing group, Mich Mathews, contended in an interview Thursday that it was always the plan to replace the Seinfeld-Gates ads with ones that focus on Windows.
The $300 million campaign was designed by ad agency Crispin Porter + Bogusky. Microsoft said the company is "exploring options" with Seinfeld for new ads, but that no ads beyond the three that aired have been filmed so far
