my dad's old Kiss albums. gene simmons and peter criss used to scare me.

whenever my parents rented the exorcist. i don't like movies about anyone getting possessed by the devil

one time when i was little my grandparents went up to the wounded knee cemetary to visit and leave flowers. their car wouldn't start and it was getting dark. my sister and i could hear women and babies crying and my grandma told us it was their spirits ..... and i have had some weird nightmares about it since. :X

i had nightmares about a dark future where i would sit in front of a soulless device all day, lonely and misunderstood, with no direction in my life whatsoever

There's no earthly way of knowing
Which direction we are going.
There's no knowing where we're rowing
Or which way the river's flowing.
Is it raining?
Is it snowing?
Is a hurricane a blowing?

Not a speck of light is showing
so the danger must be growing.
Are the fires of hell a glowing?
Is the grisly reaper mowing?
Yes! The danger must be growing
For the rowers keep on rowing.
And they're certainly not showing
any signs that they are slowing!

My parents had these AWFUL oil paintings of clowns, and for some reason they thought they'd go great in me and my sister's room... they were horrifying.

I thought maybe I was overreacting, and saw them again a few years ago... they were just as terrifying as they were when I was a kid. What were my parents thinking?

They looked kinda like this, only they were painted badly:

What were my parents thinking?
I wonder why people would cultivate intangible fears in the young and impressionable.

I wonder why people would cultivate intangible fears in the young and impressionable.

Nah, they didn't do it on purpose... they still have them, and still wonder why we think they're so horrible.

I swear it looked like they were coming out of the frames :p
