My parents had these AWFUL oil paintings of clowns, and for some reason they thought they'd go great in me and my sister's room... they were horrifying.

I thought maybe I was overreacting, and saw them again a few years ago... they were just as terrifying as they were when I was a kid. What were my parents thinking?
