New Xbox 360 prices
Beginning Friday, Microsoft is lowering the U.S. sales prices of its video-game consoles:

Xbox 360 Arcade: $199.99, was $279.99. The entry-level model has no hard drive but can now claim the title of least-expensive game console, undercutting the Nintendo Wii by $50.

Xbox 360: $299.99, was $349.99. The mainline system has a 60-gigabyte hard drive, necessary for downloading video content.

Xbox 360 Elite: $399.99, was $449.99. The high-end console has a 120-gig hard drive.

Has anyone bought the new 60gb version and have it overheat?

My co-worker has (I think) one of the 20gb that was supposed to NOT have the overheating problem and it still did the red ring of death. Plus he paid the $379 or whatever the fuck it was back then. He's pretty pissed.

You just have to be careful, I got the red rings of death...but it was because the xbox I had was modded and the guy returned it, then they just repacked it and put it back on the shelf.

the video card or whatever in my first premium (preowned) fried after a few months

got a replacement on the following day and it made this horrible high pitched grinding noise that was loud as fuck

replaced that the next day with an elite, no problems at all since then, been about 2 months now

i paid whatever it cost for the 20 gb day one and it had red rings :(. it was just the power supply though, not the console itself.

A lot of people i know got the red rings if their area was too hot or if they had the power supply in a place that wasn't well ventilated. a simple move of the power supply fixed them right up.

my friends console got the red rings and he mailed it back to them to ask for a replacement. they wound up sending him 7 consoles, sometimes more than one a day. he called them up and told them he wanted to give them back because he's honest and the representative laughed in his ear.

with tax and a couple games i got the 20gb pro version for $500 at circuit city in may 2006. it was great until feb 2008 when i got the first RROD. i got a refurbished console and had it for a couple weeks when it finally died. when i returned that one microsoft refused to repair it because it showed 'definite signs of tamper.' after several calls, emails, BBB cases and hoping later (about 3 months time), microsoft called me and said 'we made a mistake. send it back and we will replace it.' i got my third console a couple weeks ago. it was manufactured in july 2008.

He had 7 Xboxes... and none of them were fake.
