What were your options? tcm 08-31-2008, 04:36 PM also, got any demos of those songs? they were of the family roadtrip singalong variety. i'm sure they're all in the public domain. cork_soaker 08-31-2008, 06:07 PM interesting. How did you come to this decision? You don't know what to do with your life? Have you thought about doing something else? What were your options? basically, i wanted to travel, to have experiences completely outside of my "comfort zone", and to do something not completely self-centered. i'm done with school, have no obligations, and not a lot of money. i'm not concerned with settling down, pursuing a career, buying a house, etc right now. i considered it for over a year before committing and spoke to many people about it; it seemed like a good opportunity to accomplish what i was wanting to do. pale blue eyes 08-31-2008, 06:19 PM It takes balls to do something like that. Good luck with it. aurel 09-01-2008, 06:24 AM Fare thee well fella. RopeyLopey 09-01-2008, 11:30 AM do you know anyone who works/worked for Peace Corps? From what I have observed in South America, I think the idea behind it is very noble, but the actual reality is... well kinda meh. The locals usually knew way better what to do, what not to do in given circumstances, I mean they and their ancestors were living there for centuries ( now I am talking about farming in Bolivia), while these Peace Corps guys mainly came over as idealistic losers, who were mainly good in drinking and hanging around and smoking pot. I met some good people as well, who actually knew something and were really trying to improve things, but they were in minority. Again, my experience is based on getting across I think three Peace Corps bunches in Bolivia, which might not be very representative. Good luck and I hope you get something good out of it as well. Rockin' Cherub 09-01-2008, 12:04 PM these Peace Corps guys mainly came over as idealistic losers, who were mainly good in drinking and hanging around and smoking pot. well if this isn't encouragement enough Banana 09-01-2008, 01:22 PM ^Yeah that doesn't sound that bad at all. mxzombie 09-01-2008, 04:04 PM except for the part where you come across as an ignorant loser |
