Broken Social Scene extend tour - PRESALE ON NOW!
Category: Music

For those who are hitting the festival circuit this summer, you're probably already aware that Broken Social Scene has been responsible for some of the summer's most joyous, exciting performances. If you haven't made it to these shows, now's your chance to see the band shine: Toronto's finest will be extending the Something For All Of Us Tour, which starts this August, into the Fall for performances across the U.S. Named after the newest album in the Broken Social Scene Presents series, Brendan Canning's amazing solo record – Something For All Of Us…, the tour will feature Broken Social Scene as a seven-piece including band staples Brendan Canning, Kevin Drew, Justin Peroff, Charles Spearin, Apostle of Hustle's Andrew Whiteman, Sam Goldberg and Leon Kingstone.

Starting today, fans will be able to purchase tickets, before they go on sale to the general public, on the Arts & Crafts online store – Gallery AC. The pre sale will run until 5PM EST on Friday, August 1st. One lucky fan from each city will also win an exclusive, autographed silk-screened tour poster. Visit http://arts-crafts.ca/bssticketing to order tickets.

For the Something For All Of Us Tour, Broken Social Scene will be performing songs from Brendan Canning's brilliant record, in addition to tracks from the 2007 release Kevin Drew's Spirit If… and tons of fan favorites from their incredible discography. The songs from Canning's album have quickly become integral to the Broken Social Scene live set, from the springboard bounce-pop of first single "Hit the Wall" to the disco-driven "Love is New."

Show at the Metro tonight was awesome. Totally exceeded my expectations. Except for the drunk clowns who were pushing everyone including a bunch of girls, and yelling "Andreewwwwwwwww Whiiiiiiitemannnnnnn" constantly during that one really quiet song.

Yeasayer played 35 mins, then BSS for 2 hours. Great time.

What a shitty tour. Fuck that.

agreed.

I've seen them 3 times and I must say...Calvin College in Grand Rapids is NOT the place to see this band.

Any venue with seats....no way.

Another great BSS show at the Vic in Chicago on Thursday night! Sold out and a pretty enthusiastic crowd.

They had a lil sound problem, but it only messed up one song.

They debuted some new song... check a BSS site for setlist I guess. Otherwise it was a lot of the same stuff from the Metro show in August (which was just fine with me).

Glad they added that show to their tour! I'm sure they are too, with the sell out. They were very appreciative of the audience too, which was nice.

if anyone was curious, they were fucking amazing last night. The girl from Land of Talk has a great voice, she NAILED anthems. Land of Talk were also excellent. Reminded me of St. Vincent quite a bit.

they played about two hours, setlist was something like:
(microhouseish intro jam) -> something off the Brendan Canning Album
7/4 Shoreline
Fire Eye'd Boy
Churches Under the Stairs
Looks Just Like the Sun (Brendan/Justin/Andrew/Charlie only)
Cause=Time (8+ minutes)
Hit the Wall
(something off of Feel Good Lost with Kevin on bass) -> Anthems -> Stars and Sons
Love is New
Major Label Debut
---
Charlie + Leon jazz improv to interview recording of Charlie's neighbor
KC Accidental -> lengthy jam

About 2 years ago, I saw Land of Talk open for Holy Fuck and Shout Out Out Out down in the small pub at my University with about 35 people there.

I feel in love with her after having a lot to drink. After their set, she was standing about 5 feet away from me, on the side of the stage which was just a small platform. I went over and told her how fucking hot she was, but to not tell my girlfriend. Then she asked me what my name and my girlfriends was and told me she would put me on the guest list for next week when they open for the Stills in Detroit.

I think she handled that well.

Man, we got an even better setlist than redbull posted:

(not in order)
4 Brendan Canning Songs (including Hit The Wall)
Pressure Kid
KC Accidental
Stars And Sons (closer of encore)
Almost Crimes
Looks Just Like The Sun
Pacific Theme
Anthems
Cause = Time
Shampoo Suicide
Our Faces Split The Coast In Half
Ibi Dreams
7/4 Shoreline
Major Label Debut (main set closer)
Superconnected
Fire Eye'd Boy
It's All Gonna Break
2 Songs From the Other Guy's solo work (including the saxophone/Jamaican woman thing)

They said they were making the show special because they'd never played Virginia before. It was around 2:50.

i still think the best time i saw them was when feist was still in the band and opened for BSS too.

i think half of the crowd was canadian at the majestic theatre.
