but i do think it is a cool venue

$39.50-$49.50 depending on the seat according to ticketmaster. It appears only the Indiana show is $80+ because it's at a casino.

Wow. You can travel an additional 24 miles in just 4 minutes? I"m assuming you live somewhere near Chicago if you live in Northwest Indiana. I live in Davenport, and have made MANY MANY trip to Chicago. Officially, Davenport is 170 miles from Chicago. You can get from here (Davenport) to Joliet, IL in just 2 hours. It's the Chicago traffic that makes it a 3 hour drive from here. But if you were just travelling straight down I-80... well, let's just say I could make it to the Hammond show in about 3hrs 15mins. If that's any corelation to where you live.

Google Maps is almost always correct in my experiences.

I live about an hour outside the city, maybe 90 minutes at most outside the Loop.

There was no panic. There were 2 or 3 retarded noobs who got all worked up. Give me a break. It was the most obvious and blatant Netphoria joke of all time.

The dude suggested that there might be a presale and if so, to notify the community. That would be the correct course of action.

yeah seriously, they could even play 2-4 shorter songs in the time they spend to jam that out. i'm usually down with their jams but this one has me at a loss.

and speaking of loss, they've totally lost it on heavy metal machine. if you listen to the Texas show in 07 compared to either of the 08 shows you'll notice that it sounds like they've become too comfortable with it and so they're taking less chances than they used to. maybe they just need a few more shows to get back into it but as it stands it's kind of lost my interest :(

I really enjoy "Set The Controls for the Heart of the Sun" (and it was cool they were hinting at "Another Brick in the Wall" in Davenport), but I'd like if they'd do Set the Controls AND Gossamer. But that'd leave me jealous of tonight's concert goers ;)

Now this next thing he told me, REALLY disappointed me. He said they will no longer be changing up the setlist night to night. It will be the same setlist every single night of the tour in the same order (much like the February / March 2008 Europe shows). At this point, I actually looked Billy dead in the eyes and told him "That's Bullshit"!! I must say, it was definitely interesting to sit directly across from Billy Corgan and say that what he was doing is Bullshit. I told him that for me, A LOT of the fun is wondering what songs they will play on any given night of the tour and it's WAY more fun when they throw something in there that they haven't been playing regularly on the tour. I mean CHRIST!! To not even change the order of the songs!?!? I told him I prefer (like most die hard fans) when they take 30 songs on tour with them and play 22 - 24 of those a night. Then there are always a few songs that you aren't sure if you'll hear or not, but always hope so... or even hope for something they haven't been playing at all on the tour. He said the days of changing the setlist night to night and kinda learning songs as the tour progresses are over

exact same set list.

i thought the show started off fantastic. corgan still has so much energy and the guy can still jam. i'll give him credit on that. eye/mayo/tonight tonight sounded great. eye sounded REALLY good. i think the audience kind of lost interest with HMM and set the controls. a lot of people were pissed they ended with the summertime and kazoos. after summertime zz top came out with billy, but they didn't come back out. i thought they would.

at one point billy said "forgive me i'm about to say something stupid" and this guy in the front row said...really stupid. bill kinda got pissed and threw the mic at him and said you say somethign stupid. so this guy says "wanna go for a ride" to which bill replied. there are only so many rides a guy and a guy can go on and i don't fly that way. then he laughed and said i'm just messing with you, i'll fuck you all the same. then they played today.

i loved the show. thought it was great, but could do wit out HMM or set the controls. I'm sure some people like set the controls, but if I, a hardcore fan can't get into it, i doubt many people can to be honest. also, i can tell billy enjoys playing HMM that way. I actually thought superchrist was really good and i'm not a huge fan of that song. I think they need to be doing two encores on this tour. Summertime was cool, but i think some people felt kinda gyped on their encore when they came out and did we only come out at night (which i loved) and summer time. I liked them both though, summertime showed a lighter side of the band. During once upon a time i had to tell some people they were really fucking loud and to shut up. they looked pretty shocked when i said it to them

overall i had a really good time.

Thanks to the online scalpers who ate tons of tickets, there were lots of empty seats up close, so I moved up to Sec 3 Row B (second row behind 3 row pit). Much more enjoyable up that close.

Notes:
- Show was a LOT louder than Hammond. Glad I had my earplugs.
- Thought the first half wasn't quite as good as Hammond, crowd not as into it.
- The "stupid comment" bit was probably the turning point of the show. Billy really thought that was funny and was having a hard time not breaking up laughing during today. Kept smiling at Ginger. I personally was hoping the guy would say "Any Minute Now", but I guess we can't all be that good. Surprisingly, after this Billy turned up the intensity a couple notches.
- BWBW was better than Hammond
- Billy REALLY got into TBITEITB, shouting the "you are strange" line
- I don't like this version of HMM, but this will go down as the definitive performance of this version. Tons of old school Billy screaming. I didn't think I would ever see that kind of performance from him again, it's been missing lately.
- Set The Controls - would be interesting if they tightened it up, cut 3 minutes
- Encores - still funny w/ kazoos.

After the encore, Billy came out with Billy Gibbons (I believe) and then left. The crowd was going completely nuts - VERY loud, much louder than Hammond. I was shocked they didn't play a second encore. Must just not have anything prepared, because I haven't heard a crowd more deserving of an encore.

Overall, first half not as good as Hammond. The Chicago crowd was more excited by Siva and Mayo. Second half blew Hammond away. Show is more enjoyable when you accept the setlist and just forget about all the other songs they are omitting. Starla or Geek USA at the end would have made this show exceptionally memorable, but it wasn't meant to be. Show was over at 10:30, so probably 30 mins shy of curfew.

There you go, hope that helps paint the picture for you guys.

the concert was great overall, but i wish they wouldnt have ended with such dull songs. a long, drawn out set the controls and then a sort of dull encore kind of took the crowd out of it. i would have liked them to end it with something that rocked like when they ended with muzzle and 1979 in columbus.

The only thing I didn't like was the guitar noodling (especially in the second half). At some points the percussion and guitar sounds seemed to drown each other out and it became hard to pick out the guitar work (maybe it was just me). And Eye!! How could forget to add Eye to the list!! I just can't get over how GREEAAATTTT this setlist is. And this guy wants to sell tickets because it sucks!?!

ahemm...Transformer?!?!? Add that too.

But seriously. I saw them in Davenport and the show is amazing. The band is having great fun and its highly worth it to go see them.

the architecture in the ballroom of the palace made songs like TBITEITB even more ethereal

One thing I'm noticing though with the recording on archive.org though is that if I D/L the mp3s and put them in iTunes, it will not let me relabel them into anything other than what it's already labeled as. I've never had this issue before. Anyone know why it's happening and how I can fix it?

Recording is pretty good. Could use a little mastering, though. I'll see what I can do.
