:smoke:
The Smashing Pumpkins are looking for any original photos from 1987-1992 to be a part of their upcoming Gish Boxset.
Were you a fan of The Smashing Pumpkins since the beginning? I mean WAY back, back before anyone can even remember a thing called grunge, digital cameras, or the internet.
If you were in the thick of it back then, and have the photos to prove it, then this message is for you:
The Smashing Pumpkins are looking for any original photos of the band from between 1987-1992. Any photos that ******* the original negative (to prove it is yours and authentic) if chosen for inclusion to be included will be licensed (paid for) in order to be included within the upcoming Gish boxset package.
You may ask yourself, "Will my photo work?" Photos can be from a festival, a club gig, after-show party, anything that is from the correct time period and includes the band.
To reach someone in regards to submitting your original photos, please send a private message to Pumpkinsmediamilitia on this site and you will be given further instructions from there. To send a private message, you must first register for an account on smashingpumpkins.com.

Slurpee 07-09-2008, 01:48 PM Is Billy wearing the shirt he pulled out for that Zwan show in Columbia in 2002?
Floppy Nono 07-09-2008, 01:54 PM it's like someone put the 4 shittiest hippies they could find in cryogenic stasis and unfroze them in the 90's as a social experiment.
BlissedandGone2 07-09-2008, 02:03 PM if chosen for inclusion to be included will be licensed (paid for) in order to be included

amazing. jimmy's hair is something else.
although now Billy is more likely to be wearing what D'Arcy's wearing in that pic.
Nothing/everything 07-09-2008, 02:27 PM amazing. jimmy's hair is something else.
well, the hair might be, but the shirt is in a league of it's own
Caine Walker 07-09-2008, 02:30 PM hahahahahha it sure is.
Nothing/everything 07-09-2008, 03:35 PM this one should also be included, just because of the dude in the crowd in green looking like the virgin mary in 16th century paintings.

CrabbMan 07-09-2008, 04:23 PM amazing. jimmy's hair is something else.
Seriously, it looks like a bad photoshop job.
Pizza Club 07-09-2008, 04:25 PM Yep, D'arcy was totally not hot most of the time. I don't get why people drooled over her.
Also, if it's July and they are just posting this, how does that bode for a release by the end of the year? I ask because I genuinely don't know. I guess the demos are already transferred, but how long does the artwork and packaging take to do?

D'Arcy didn't get hot until MCIS, and mostly in Adore.
Brute Squad 07-09-2008, 04:38 PM Yep, D'arcy was totally not hot most of the time. I don't get why people drooled over her.
Haven't you seen Rider's avatar?

IWishIWasBlank 07-09-2008, 10:11 PM How's Bahsten treating you, Garksi?
IWishIWasBlank 07-09-2008, 10:13 PM I was listening to Weird Al Yankovich in `88. I have no Gish photos.
slunken 07-09-2008, 10:49 PM I was listening to Weird Al Yankovich in `88. I have no Gish photos.

edit: haha Garski spidersoma said you got owned by Monte!
Where's the Billy's nutsack pic? Somebody send that one in.
slunken 07-09-2008, 11:09 PM Blindly Speculating Here:
Does this "send in yr photos" scam make anyone else a bit paranoid that we're not going to be getting anything too tucked away? I mean, don't some of us still believe that Billy's got the best stuff himself? Why wouldn't this ******* photography? Why are the fans being asked for help? Is this a fan-oriented project? If so, won't it make it feel like a tribute project?
suncrashesdown 07-09-2008, 11:09 PM Bad Hair Day was the first CD I ever bought
slunken 07-09-2008, 11:12 PM and it was the LAST weird al I ever bought...
MonteLDS 07-09-2008, 11:30 PM he was trying to "own" the kid that dropped that knowlege on him you dumb twat
Mark is older than me and a personal friend of mine... and stop bothering me, alright, thank you buh-bye~!
On another note, I am surprise that corgan doesn't have a dresser full of old pictures. it seems like he archived everything
spidersoma 07-10-2008, 12:10 AM re read the thread and know what the fuck you're talking about next time you post. he was trying to "own" the kid that dropped that knowlege on him you dumb twat
panties in a twist, much?
let the e-anger ensue!
stumpycat 07-10-2008, 01:43 AM On another note, I am surprise that corgan doesn't have a dresser full of old pictures. it seems like he archived everything
It surprises me too. James and D'arcy must have absconded with all the good ones.
Seriously, though, I think the major flaw with this plan is that they're putting out the call on SP.com. I can almost guarantee you that the random people who came to see their club shows and drunkenly partied with them afterwards aren't hanging out on SP.com, and truthfully most of them are either approaching middle age or are already there, and have probably moved on from interest in SP completely. Back then they were just another band in the scene.

^ yeah, a cropped photo of the crotch would make a pretty sweet label for whatever Gish rarities disc they decide to do.

i would have to agree.
Teej212 07-10-2008, 11:16 AM who would keep the negatives?
MonteLDS 07-10-2008, 11:24 AM who would keep the negatives?
other than billy corgan? seriously i think this might be a lost cause. i don't know about what kind of policy's were in placed back then but a lot of shows i recall seeing always said "no cameras"
Teej212 07-10-2008, 04:08 PM were the pumpkins strict back then? did they really care if someone took a picture of them? i always imagined them to be really cool in the early years
Pmack 07-10-2008, 04:26 PM Too bad they're asking for negs... I've got a stack of tres awesome photos from 1989 & 1990, including some from their first anniversary show. Of course, while they are actual photographs, the person who gave them to me didn't give me negatives and 12 years later I have no way to get in touch with her anymore...
ChaosEffect 07-10-2008, 04:33 PM although now Billy is more likely to be wearing what D'Arcy's wearing in that pic.
Haha!

Exactly. And those of us who were teenagers when this all went down (me *******_d) have left all traces of adolescence (like pictures) at our respective parents' homes with our old baseball card collections anyway...
Well at least those of us thirty somethings who actually moved away from home...

you are missing out on gobs of gobs of money Dave! Hunt her down!
this is acttually exactly what i expected though. the people who would have pictures would most likely not have the negatives :(

Shit, I don't care about the money, they're cool photos. It's funny to see them playing in an empty club but still bringing the rock star moves.
