Notes
-----
This was the 1st show @ the Fillmore that was pro shot. so we might see some of these songs later. Billy was in a very good mood on this Friday night. a lot of short banter. The last banter was the only one long enough that i felt could use its own chapter. I have some wonders about the audio sync being perfect during Drown - 1979. It feels like it goes in & out of sync. some people don't notice it, the rest of the show feels like it is in sync perfectly.

Highlights: This show was pretty smooth. lots of guitar changes. Nice 1979 full band. Last performance of Daydream & The Crying Tree of Mercury @ the Fillmore. lots of panning in this footage to see a lot of the band

A HD 1080i BLU-RAY version currently not available for public circulation but does exist. (I am looking for Asheville shows in HD to trade for)

the santa cruz show is by far the worst recording. i need to revisit that sometime

I notice the camera was trying to auto-focus and had a lot of trouble with the flashing lights, and the amount of zoom needed to get to Jimmy.

I have problems like that when I get up to the 32X max on my digital. I expected you to get that corrected after this show though... figured you would've done something different in the setup to get rid of that.

digital zoom is bad all the time..

as for the auto focus, it will be a problem depending on lights setup. since this era of lights is gone I am not sure what to do.

i hate working with such a small camera to start with :(

I have yet to investigate my camera to see if there's an option to turn off auto focus. I think there is... but I dunno. It's new/a gift... and I haven't looked it in the mouth. I was just happy to upgrade.

not sure if there would be. if their was how would u do manual focus. most consumer cameras have VERY limited manual focus these days..
mine gives me the option to do manual but it be hard as heck to do a concert with lights changing in manual focus

IWishIWasBlank
07-01-2008, 10:54 PM
I would think it wouldn't be too bad... if it was manual focus it wouldn't flip out trying to refocus every time the lights flashed, like it seems to have when United States started. Once you got it focused on the stage, I thought it would stay that way, despite light flickers and band movement... then you could move the cam and kind of gently persuade the focus to where it should be.

Then again, I don't have any experience in taping concerts, or virtually anything moving as fast as things do on stage. My dogs don't play guitars.

I always thought you had a small cam stand for this stuff too. Didn't realize you were freehanding it.

monte i love the menus on this dvd. the full motion bit in the beginning with the BTL loop is cool, and so is the flag-based song menu.

the community owes you big time for all these dvds. making the sacrifice to hold the camera steady night after night is something i would never be able to do...you are the man. don't let the fuckers around here get you down. its contributions and effort from people such as yourself that make others (including myself) want to get involved and give something back to the community....

MonteLDS
07-16-2008, 07:54 PM
if someone would like to do a torrent they can. i personally just don't have the desire to start one. over 60 people download the show. the sendspace bandwidth has been renewed since i am uploading the july 31st dvd

david_magno
07-16-2008, 08:53 PM
thanks for the info Monte.
I misunderstood and was thinking you were posting a torrent after the direct download was over.
hopefully I'll find it somehow.
So with the bandwidth renewed, can I download the July 27th show with those original links? or will just the July 31st show will be available?
thanks.

MonteLDS
07-16-2008, 09:53 PM
the original links work currently.. but do it fast! i do plan to remove the files soon..

i was personally going to make a torrent but now i am not. there would be too much seeding time involved. but if anyone wants to torrent it they can as long as it isn't on a private tracker

07-17-2008, 05:30 AM
btw. is there a reason why you didn't reduce the bass on the audio? i'm enjoying it a lot more when i reduce it.

MonteLDS
07-17-2008, 09:36 AM
ask the person who did the audio. i didn't mess with the audio

mickyshambles
07-17-2008, 10:09 AM
it's good that the audio taper shared his original audio. i just wondered why you didn't doctor it seeing as you spent a while making the dvd. that's not to say it isn't a sweet dvd.

mickyshambles
07-17-2008, 11:42 AM
just watched it through the TV and it's probably better that the bass is up a bit. :)

MonteLDS
07-17-2008, 12:33 PM
i don't mess with the audio at all.. most of the time is spent syncing audio with video. then authoring the DVD.
