Cheap Trick will be joined by Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan and Gov't Mule keyboardist Danny Louris June 28th at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles as the Rockford, Illinois band covers The Beatles' Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album. The Tricksters tackled the album last year at the Bowl to mark its 40th anniversary. The quartet will once again be joined on many songs by the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra.

ever since this was announced on SP o-site i have thought about this, but a few issues, i don't know of Cheap Trick having an open taping policy.

the tickets are awful expensive for a band that i will only stick around for a few songs.

Cheap Trick does not allow video. I'm not 100% sure the stance on audio.

hmm...apples/oranges yeah but CT are fucking great. i saw them...sometime this decade in corpus (one of the few bands that will actually play here), think it was 02 or 3, shit, they were fucking fantastic. crowd went nuts, i was shocked actually.

The cheap tickets are $10 but they appear to be sold out.. I would go if I could get one of those.. I may try to get a ticket the day of the event but any recording I do would be on a cell phone camera, but at worst I could videotape the big TV screen (assuming they have one).. if I see STP there on 6/24 I'll have a better idea of the layout

the first 3 albums are equally good. the bonus tracks added to the 1st make it a little better (esp the version of 'you're all talk' and 'go go girls', the 'i want you to want me' isn't quite done in that version). as far as like, later records i really like 'next position please'. they're pop, but they're better than a lot of other pop imo. powerpop as they say

yes it was Julia

http://www.cheaptrick.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/ikonboard.cgi?;act=ST;f=3;t=12817

Billy Corgan sang Julia, another song I love and never hear.

Im not a big fan of Billy Corgan but he did a good job singing Julia with 5 acoustic guitars backing him up!

Billy C's rendition of "Julia" was a nice surprise. He told us a nice story about Donovan who was backstage that night and claims to have taught that picking pattern to the Beatles.

i went with my step-dad and when i found out billy was singing and not just a guest guitarist i warned him that billy isn't known for his singing voice... anyway after Julia he turned to me and said that was GOOD! and the crowd reaction was quite good and someone on stage said.. "billy".. "wow".. it was a good feeling to see my favorite musician up there in front of a lot of non-SP fans and receive a positive reaction..
