the way that he sings gives me goosebumps so much ... one of the best uses of a xylophone in musical history.

Man, Dondante is great.
I should've fucking stuck around. Unbecoming of a Roo vet, I didn't bring full raingear and just had on a rain jacket. By about an hour and a half in, when the rain and wind really picked up I couldn't take it anymore and went back to the tent.
Fuck. Biggest Roo regret in the years I've gone.

I was in the Superjam tent (it sucked) until the second set started, I started to fall asleep during Oh Sweet Nuthin and left. Heard Dondante and Run Thru from my tent and they sounded great.

Yeah, the first part of the set I saw wasn't exactly grabbing me. Really low key. Plus the rain...
But when I heard Dondante, Run Thru and Touch Me Part 2 from my tent I was pissed I didn't go back.
What was the Superjam, even? I never found out. Was it the Claypool/Hammett/Hutz covering Waits thing?

^^ yeah but Hammett didn't show until after I left, and Claypool/Gogol wasn't interesting me in the least. They started 45 minutes late, too.

This album is a completely different experience from Z and not really comparable though you could say the same thing about all their records. I thought it was pretty fucking akward for a while, but now every time I listen to it gets incrimentally better to the point where all I have to do is pretend Highly Suspicious doesn't exist to consider this a great record. Evil Urges, Librarian, Aluminum Park and Smokin From Shootin are all perfect songs. Hell, I even invented a new drinking game for Aluminum Park. Put it on repeat, and every time Jim James screams you take a shot of whiskey. Rockin' timees.
Oh, I also figured out where the break down in EU feels so familiar. Although it definately has an allman brothers/led zeppelin vibe to it, I have to say for me it conjurs the ghosts of the Tea Party's 1993 sitar epic "The River".
