What is your favorite Smash Pump album?

wHATcOLOR
05-29-2008, 03:53 AM
I always have such a hard time picking between Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, The Aeroplane Flies High (turns left, looks right), and Adore. that was a pretty incredible 4 year span.

davin
05-29-2008, 03:58 AM
yea, 1995 - 1998 was an awesome 4 yr span, wasn't it?

wHATcOLOR
05-29-2008, 03:59 AM
yup

'95: very cool
'96: very cool
'97: not as cool in comparison, but still pretty cool
'98: very cool

wHATcOLOR

sidenote: '99 was cool too. too bad he had to butcher all the arising songs in 2000

davin

...but gish --> tafh (1991 - 1996) was even better, and that was almost 6 years.

does that mean like M2 and TAFH a lot too? just wondering.

PI has a special place in my heart because of the time and place it reminds me of. the people too.....everything back then.

Without a doubt: Adore.

I'd still love to see the faces of these idiots who thought that SP were some kind of grunge-rock-band when playing this one for the first time...

PI, TAFH and MII rank right up there with the regular albums. You get to know more about your band when they release the b-sides.

pi/sd/mcis > gish/tafh > pre-gish > adore > machinas
i'd sooner consider zwan and tfe and even the marked as sp before zg...i just can't. it's just not sp. just the use of a name doesn't mean it is

I'd have to say PI. It was a standard length album that was really dynamic and balanced (loud rock, calmer acoustics, etc.).

i'm more inclined to pick PI as a more complete picture of what sp was about for me, as annoying as it was that certain songs were inexplicably absent (take your pick..glynis and drown being the most obvious, not worth asking, apathy's last kiss, never let me down, slunk, daughter, and so on)

Times to times a thread like this one pops up, isnt? lool .. I love them anyway...

MCIS for me is the best album ever of anyone who make any sound until today...

After ^:
SD, Adore, Machina I, Machina II, Gish, Pisces Iscariot, etc, (im not sure here), etc and Zeitgeist (yeah Im sure at the last one :S)

I think from Siamese Dream to TAFH was when this band was in its hay-day. I must say though, I think the lyrical content and the emotional aspect of SD make it my favorite. But sometimes I'm really into MCIS/TAFH. But I must say that Adore is the most beautiful.

I like all of their b-sides, obscure releases, and demos more than any song collective they have actually put out. (Which means that PI is perhaps my favorite album of theirs?) It's been in recent years that I've really come to appreciate just how cool Adore sounded live, though.

Run To Me
09-19-2015, 12:47 AM
I'd have to go with Pisces over SD. I love SD but it wears me out, man. With the singular (albeit gorgeous) distortion, the extreme emotions. Pisces is similar but more my speed and with more variety. Like a Mini Collie and the Infinite Sadness.

Of course I'd choose MCIS first but I won't because MCIS isn't a mere album...it's like a whole universe in sound.

I'm inclined to change my vote to MCIS at this point in my life. It just contains a larger cross section of what I love about the Pumpkins than SD does.

I've always said SD is like their Reservoir Dogs while MCIS is Pulp Fiction. In films, I still prefer the condensed, focused masterpiece over a sprawling epic. But with music it's a little different.
