what kind of demented world chastises an open, nice guy like obama and demands that he formally apologise for affectionately addressing a woman with a term as innocent and unassuming as fucking "sweetie"?

its not like he called her fucking SUGARTITS

You're running weak among women, example of what to try and avoid doing:

well i guess he should've given her an answer, but if anything is questionable here its his choice to ignore the woman rather than the way he addressed her

It's a non-issue. It's on the news more as a WTF, laughable moment because he called to apologize. The people trying to add legitimacy to this are, primarily, anti-Obama people. So, while it may have offended some, they're not the ones making this an issue. This does not hurt him, and because he's addressed it, it's less likely the Republicans will bring it up.

Just clarifying, dude. Replies, like the ones the ones I've quoted below, make it seem like the situation is worse than it is.

As I relayed the story to my sister she stopped me right in the middle and said "Sweetie?". Think outside yourself for the possibility that some people would take offense. Me personally, I have a problem with his dismissive attitude toward reporters, regardless of sex. I have no real problem with sweetie, but I know it shouldnt have been said.

Do you disagree with my premise? I think its common sense "Hey, my support is bad in this group, I should probably watch my mouth." Just another fine example of how St. Obama can do no wrong.

I don't disagree with your statement and I've acknowledged the fact that it was offensive to some. Having said that, the thread starter was commenting on how Obama was forced to apologize and chastised. You state that he should have seen this coming... All I'm saying is that he was never forced to do so, nor was he really chastised by the media for having said it because it's fairly innocent and not meant in a marginalizing, womanizing manner. It's in the news because he apologized, not because he said it. Just putting things in perspective for those in other parts of the world...

the reporter was doing a pretty shitty job

obama was just chillin and looking around the factory (or whatever that was) and she abruptly stammers in front of him and belts out some broad and generic question. i would've brushed her off too. ithat's not really how you approach a presidential candidate for some Q&A
