View Full Version : So why isn't the US doing anything against Scientology?

There's been tons and tons of all kinds of evidence against this 'church', but no-one seems to care, and it's spreading all over the world like cancer.

I'm seriously confused. Can anyone explain this?

By the way - I decided to check out those 'worldwide' protests on May 10th. I wonder how many people will show up in Austria - five, six maybe? It's still considered a dangerous cult here [as well as in Germany]. Hm.

not enough hard evidence to convict anyone of anything

are they breaking laws?

Mo

Shoot.

And yes, if you read the testimonies of ex-members, they indeed are. Though that might be hard to proof.

wHATcOLOR

what laws?

Mo
04-22-2008, 02:49 PM
Anyway, did you know that the average person uses only 10% of their mental capacity?

wHATcOLOR
04-22-2008, 02:49 PM
how can someone really measure/know that?

Mo
04-22-2008, 02:49 PM
what laws?

Well... child labor, for example?
At least according to this site: http://www.exscientologykids.com

Apparently you've never seen their pamphlets.

i find this thread frustratingly low on facts and concrete examples

Mo
04-22-2008, 02:51 PM
Yeah, me too - but that's why I asked the question in the first place, to get facts. If there's no evidence, well, then you can't do anything anyway.
But fuck, stupidity should be a crime.

Nevermind, move along.

We aren't doing anything about it because people can believe whatever nonsense they want.

Nobody can make sure all children are treated correctly. Or is there some law or government intervention that got rid of child abuse that no one told me about?

I am sure all the accusations of Scientology are made by insane Christian fundamentalists. Just let them accuse each other and get angrier until they wage a holy war and kill themselves off.

i find this thread frustratingly low on facts and concrete examples

supposedly they've blackmailed people to the point where they kill themselves, held people against their will, sometimes resulting in their deaths, denied people medical treatment (they have their own doctors), also resulting in death. their general M.O. is very cult-like - extremely secretive, manipulative, and money-driven.

Quote from Wikipedia:

In reality, you can't enact laws banning scientology. It's a constitutional right. Besides, you shouldn't need laws against it, only merciless ridicule under the shine of rational thought is what is required and deserved. Pretty much the same goes for all religions.

it would be nice however if scientology loses it's tax exempt status...as well as all other fairy tale nonsense schools.
