Corgan knew something like this would happen when he wrote the song, we should be pissed off at him

this you tube comment is great

"he really cant sing a song like this, his whiney voice just doesn't have the same elegance as Corgan, bad bad cover.

Funny how people on this board always try to argue that the pumpkins are still relevant, but when a relevant band covers one of their songs people on here bitch about it.

you suck.

Are you allowed to say stuff like that.

isn't that what this board is about...? doesn't the fact that this board is called " Smashing Pumpkins/Billy Corgan Discussion" establish clearly that those who post here believe the band is relevant.. i think those who come here and make such comments about the band not being relevant are the irrelevant ones.. :erm:

Come on rider, we all know when or if you thought SP was relevant you might be turned off by such a cover.. don't be pulling your plus uno crap around here

say anything is relevant? serious question, i didn't think they were.

and really, those vocals are so. unbelievably. terrible. wow. i need to listen to the original now.

I don't get you people. This is obviously Corgan finally getting world domination, one sucky band at a time.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna take that downtown train so that my heart can beat free.

yeah i liked it. i know, the vocals, i know, but, you know, that's the thing... embrace the thing. then you'll recognize what a tight, passionate, otherwise tasteful performance this is.

To the demographic that matters, yes.

I think I saw this last week or so, and disliking it then. I still think his voice is pretty weak

Your statemant makes no sense. Every band is relevant to someone, hell even insane clown posse is relevant to some people. God I feel sorry for those people.

ehhhhhh

that i called her on the phone and she touched herself is the only song of theirs i've ever heard of. i don't think they're that much bigger in the "relevant demographic" than sp2, to be honest. someone check record sales.

i could be way off. just going off of my experience here.

I think bands who cover SP are never going to win to be honest... still its nice they are showing the love, even if it is badly conveyed

my band could cover this song way better

trust me

seems like maoi and i are the only unblind nonfanboys left around these parts. billy corgan is not the end-all-be-all, untouchable sacred cow many of you think. there is so much other music out there.

I'm usually whatever about Pumpkin covers... neither appreciative nor discouraging of them. But this one is so terrible.

Emo + Pumpkins = mistake

i like their lights&stars.

the singer is awful. other than that the cover is okay i guess.

The band is called 'Say Anything' for those who don't have the ability to work such things out.

This guy needs to:
1. Take his vocals down in the mix.
2. Pick up a guitar.
3. Not try so hard.

wtf is all this talk about relevancy? You either like a band or you don't, what's the big deal

T&T
04-18-2008, 01:45 PM
the big deal is popularity obviously.
if you're in high school or other type lame establishments
being cool is important

how about that evanescence cover of Zero... that hurts my ears as well.

I'd like to hear Tom Waits cover SP. I should e-mail him.

Edit: In the Evanescence vid... at 1:06... just below center a guy gets whacked in the cheek by a headbanger. You can see him coddle his wound.
