rolmos 03-31-2008, 10:58 AM Billy should ALWAYS wear a guitar.

RockLobster 03-31-2008, 11:00 AM god he is so lame...
ChristHimself! 03-31-2008, 11:04 AM if the guy at 0:21 posts here, the guy with the sunglasses on at an indoor venue

Cool As Ice Cream 03-31-2008, 11:42 AM del
lambert 03-31-2008, 12:04 PM Holy fuck, where have I been . This is one of my favorite songs and I didn't realize they covered it!
He does look lame without a guitar though.
ravenguy2000 03-31-2008, 12:57 PM del
Deadeyes 03-31-2008, 01:08 PM Kinda weird with Billy's Bassless voice but not bad all the same.
slowdawn 03-31-2008, 01:11 PM This needs a studio recording.
Rickpat12 03-31-2008, 01:24 PM Wow, this fucking kicked ass. I never heard their cover of it, never d/l a boot of the shows when they played it. Billy's voice owned! Does he always play it sans guitar?
starlaluna 03-31-2008, 01:32 PM "rock n roll party" irks me. Good cover though. I would never knew or think they would cover a song like this...I have the LP and I <3 this song!
ciGarski 03-31-2008, 02:04 PM jeff's awesome. i love this video.
SlingeroGuitaro 03-31-2008, 02:06 PM looks like they are having fun again
ciGarski 03-31-2008, 02:20 PM for sure
redchandelier 03-31-2008, 04:30 PM gotta say I really love Corgan's rendition of lips like sugar even more than the original, his voice just sounds so great
....and oh yeah, billy manorexia does NOT look hot!! ;)
byebyejune 03-31-2008, 04:56 PM oh my goodness, i dont know if i can handle him dancing around like that. what a sultry cover!
is there a girl in a nirvana shirt in the front? thats kinda wierd..
deadaswarhol 03-31-2008, 04:59 PM with them covering Echo and the Church, i assume billy just saw donnie darko for the first time recently
ravenguy2000 03-31-2008, 05:02 PM tell me they didn't cover under the milkyway
redbull 03-31-2008, 05:02 PM with them covering Echo and the Church, i assume billy just saw donnie darko for the first time recently
ciGarski 03-31-2008, 05:25 PM with them covering Echo and the Church, i assume billy just saw donnie darko for the first time recently
true. we've never known him to have an interest in eighties music before
SquashinPumpkin 03-31-2008, 05:36 PM Me likey Jeff. Its nice to see him lead a song. I like the guitar tone of the song
And I can't wait till SP guitar tone goes away from the ZG sound...that's what made all of the songs sound the same and repetitive.
flyfire 03-31-2008, 06:07 PM if the guy at 0:21 posts here, the guy with the sunglasses on at an indoor venue
kill yourself
He was at the Sydney sideshow, he doesn't post here
davin 03-31-2008, 06:12 PM true. we've never known him to have an interest in eighties music before
i still suspect that all these covers are the result of bc & jc trying to "gel" with the new members by playing songs from bands they all like, to help srengthen their musical connection.
jeff has mentioned echo and the bunnymen before, right?
Floppy Nono 03-31-2008, 06:14 PM i thought billy has mentioned being a fan of echo and the bunnymen and he worked with new order and always talks about loving joy division. he did make that new wave dance rock solo album after all...
flyfire 03-31-2008, 06:19 PM yep, Gibson interview wasn't it. Also there's been no sign of Tommy Lee at the shows
Floppy Nono 03-31-2008, 06:21 PM thank god for that sister/brother
ciGarski 03-31-2008, 06:24 PM yeah i was wondering about that. jeff must have had a hand in the arrangement
davin 03-31-2008, 06:27 PM i thought billy has mentioned being a fan of echo and the bunnymen and he worked with new order and always talks about loving joy division. he did make that new wave dance rock solo album after all...
oh he definitely was, thats what i mean. they seem to be finding common ground to build off of. even with that footage of them sharing old music and stuff, during some of that "day in the life" footage...it seemed to be happening.
Floppy Nono 03-31-2008, 06:30 PM yeah the whole "i'll rip you a copy" scene or whatever it was at rehearsals made me think that too.
Wasn't it jeff who got to pick some of the teases during hmm towards the end of the tour? I thought there was something about this, does anyone remember if it was truth or just rumor?
davin 03-31-2008, 06:49 PM i vaguely remember something abotu jeff's involvement in this as well, from show banter or an after show conversation or something....but i thought it was more in regards to superchrist and them coming up with the jam together.
either way, you're right...there was something he took part in that i can't quite remember.
silverfrick 03-31-2008, 07:14 PM Is it just me or does Billy's vocals improve drastically without having to concentrate on the guitar. Last time I heard this set up was Blank Page and he butchered that live as far as I'm concerned.
Anyway, best cover they have done since the "revival".
ciGarski 03-31-2008, 07:59 PM I'm blanking on other full covers they've done since the "revival"
Rickpat12 03-31-2008, 08:13 PM Another request for the qustion: Does Billy always go acapella on Lips Like Sugar?
Floppy Nono 03-31-2008, 08:16 PM yes, afaik he does.
slowdawn 03-31-2008, 08:17 PM Jeff is rockin' in this
I hope they keep it in future setlists...
ciGarski 03-31-2008, 08:19 PM the videos on youtube all seem to have him guitarless. man i wish he'd bring back black boots with pants. keep the skirts over seas mr corgan.
ciGarski 03-31-2008, 08:20 PM Jeff is rockin' in this
I hope they keep it in future setlists...
yeah he is. give him the full lead and potentially some of the arrangement duties and away he goes.
this would be a cool single.
ciGarski 03-31-2008, 11:10 PM can someone make an mp3 of this?
avsfan7733 03-31-2008, 11:54 PM you think he requires lisa to paint her fingernails black.
The New 04-01-2008, 12:27 AM can someone make an mp3 of this?
I'm pretty sure that clip on youtube is my cap. I also recorded the audio seperately, TV > 2 RCA to single 3.5mm > R-09.
I've made an mp3 from that - http://www.mediafire.com/?tdfnbdx9dgy
Should i put a lossless set up?
Also not sure if anyone checked but the links i posted earlier in the thread are for a video of all 3 songs
ciGarski 04-01-2008, 12:32 AM thanks man

Thank you very much!!!!!!!! :D
Hypocaust 04-01-2008, 05:43 AM Should i put a lossless set up?
It would be very much appreciated and full of awesomeness.
cardiac 04-01-2008, 10:54 AM Nice to see Jeff taking over the guitar front. I sorta hope he would've when they started playing STRTJ. Sounds great. And is that the same SWEET blue tele he had in that Lassie Foundation video circulating in youtube? Man, that's a good looking instrument.
areyougaffney? 04-01-2008, 11:36 AM a great song. I loved it the 02 and got my mate singing it every day now, from me singing it every day. A studio version...like something from bullet single would be great
ciGarski 04-01-2008, 12:57 PM he sings the chorus perfectly. god what a great cover.
slowdawn 04-01-2008, 07:23 PM Thanks for the recording The New, the quality is great!
commando 04-01-2008, 07:48 PM he sings the chorus perfectly. god what a great cover.
I don't get how sometimes he can sing properly from the diaphragm and other times he totally blows it and embarrasses the band i.e. Settle Down on snl "I took my chances yeah" sung completely flat and from his throat.
ciGarski 04-01-2008, 07:55 PM if you listen to this instead of watch it, his vocal styling, of at least the chorus is comparable to really old school billy
SlingeroGuitaro 04-01-2008, 08:22 PM if you listen to this instead of watch it, his vocal styling, of at least the chorus is comparable to really old school billy
indeed. the 'suugar kisses' part gets me off.. the phone
stumpycat 04-02-2008, 12:12 AM I agree about the "old school" style vocals. I think it's because when Billy sings a circa 80's new wave style song he just subconciously slips back into that mode.
One of the best things to come out of the Zeitgeist era. :)
Next they should cover one of their own old songs...Psychodelic. I could imagine that song prefacing Lips Like Sugar perfectly.
Disarmu 04-02-2008, 11:29 AM Ha ha on 0.25 into it he spits in the direction of Jeff/crowd and Jeff just gives him an odd look.
Billy loves to spit... Really enjoyed this performance but Billy looks completely gay the way he tries to hop around the stage..very cringeworthy...loved the vocals..
jm9843 04-02-2008, 01:22 PM STFU
ciGarski 04-02-2008, 01:22 PM corgan's an awkward fellow. always has been.
Fattening Ass 04-02-2008, 01:34 PM Excellent cover.:banging:
stumpycat 04-02-2008, 11:12 PM Yeah, you can see Billy doing that same kind of "Billy dance" on some of the footage during the credits of Vieuphoria. At the end of Transmission during the Adore tour...yep, same dance!
mickyshambles 04-05-2008, 01:23 PM I'm pretty sure that clip on youtube is my cap. I also recorded the audio seperately, TV > 2 RCA to single 3.5mm > R-09.
I've made an mp3 from that - http://www.mediafire.com/?tdfnbdx9dgy
Should i put a lossless set up?
yes, sir.

yes
slunken 04-05-2008, 01:38 PM thanks for the audio of this...although the performance really didn't do too much for me. It was enjoyable but I kept waiting for it to end. Too technical for my tastes.
How long do you think Jeff labored and practiced over those guitar parts? Lol.
ciGarski 04-05-2008, 02:16 PM not long.
