Is it correct that there are two versions of this remix? If so, I'd love to hear what the alternate version sounds like (the one that's not on Community Service II). Does a rip of the vinyl circulate?

the moby remix of 1979 was really cool....

was no one willing to remix zeitgeist songs?

Every remix of every song is horrible.

agreed, on the Moby Mix...

There was a Doomsday Clock remix that was done, but apparently it was more of a reproduction than a remix.

I didn't really like the moby mix.

It has a cheapo 90's generic techno beat at the beginning, and the sampled parts of the song sound really muffled. Like the stereo is in another room down the hall and you are listening to it.

possibly the best remix there was of an SP song

Totally. Song for song could rival the original (though wouldn't fit so well with the album)

yes, i have this vinyl and there are 2 versions. the A side is the one on the Community Service II cd. the b-side is an alt. remix that i don't recall being very memorable.

Speaking of remixes... does anyone remember:

Glass & the 13 Ghosts
13 Kills
13 Brings Tears
Autumn 13th

Especially Autumn 13th. Incredible sounding. I've still got these, just wondering if anybody remembers them.

Thanks davin, I figured you would know for sure.

I'd still like to hear Side B if you or anyone else is willing to help out.

Anyone looking to sell their vinyl, or would be willing to do a rip?

Is anyone able to rip any of these in flac? All I have on the remix front in lossless is the P Diddy ones.

The Kerry Brown remix of Daphne Descends is the best SP remix and then its the 1979 vocal mix, but even then those are not really that good. puff daddy perfect remix is actualyl not bad. but the thread reminded me that i listened to the TEITBITE remixes a few times when i first bought it in 1997 and i haven't listened to them since. i dont even remember how they sound. i should dust it off and give it a lsiten.

zeitgeist doesn't really lend itself to remixing. if there was any body of work that billy did that was open to remixing its definitely TFE. man would i love to have the individual tracks for that album, iw ould create a vastly superior work.

no: the "original" cd, where the flacs come from, contains the lossy audio. (not sure if it's mp3 sourced, but it's definitely lossy.)
the flacs is the best we have.

i thought there was one teitbite remix that was decent. can't remember which one. on the other hand, the nuwave batcave remix is just hilarious.

it may take me a while, but i can get around to ripping it eventually. first i need to get a new diamond-head needle for my turntable, before i dare play anything on it.

agnew (i think it was him) re-ripped his original promo disc and THOSE were mp3 sourced. so there are no lossless versions of those remixes.

Seems like the version floating around is:

SMASHING PUMPKINS
1998
Puff Daddy "Perfect" Remixes
Studio
Virgin In-House CDR > CDR > EAC > Wav > Flac

Set list:

1. Perfect (MP Mix) 4:11
2. Perfect (Vocal Up) 4:11
3. Perfect (Instrumental) 4:11

This was one of two remixes Puff Daddy did for The Smashing Pumpkins back in 1998 (the other being Ava Adore, which has not surfaced). These remixes were comissioned but never used because apparently Puff Daddy wanted too much money.

In August of 1998, two copies of a Virgin in-house CDR (with dot matrix printed inserts!) showed up on eBay. I bought one of them. The seller told me he retrieved them from a dumpster at Virgin Records.

A few years later I sold the original CDR to another collector, but ripped the CD before selling it. This distribution is sourced from my rip, which is why there is an extra CDR gen in the lineage.

Not the Pumpkins' finest hour, but an interesting curiosity nonetheless.

Feel free to encode this to MP3, upload to Porntube,
sing it in the shower, whatever.
