i am indeed!

my next book is gonna be The Road by Cormack McCarthy (although I started it and so far it doesn't seem to be my style really) and then I'm gonna read every book Ian McKewan has ever written because he is the fucking MAN. Then maybe I'll check it out. I know my mom has it.

It must be getting a small '09 rollout pre-January just for an oscar grab. So it'll probably be in the T-Dot sometime before then.

so this comes out here tomorrow. the reviews have been pretty bad. i'll watch it but my expectations aren't so high anymore.

most reviews seem to agree in that trying to contain the majority of the plot points, jackson raced through them and ended up stripping them of their subtlety and emotional impact, and spent a lot of time diddling around with the 'afterworld' stuff, and the movie really comes to a halt when he does that

it might be passable for someone who's never read the book (i.e. me)

or perhaps i could watch the movie and then read the book and appreciate for myself which is the superior artwork

I read the book cuz I thought it would be all about a dead girl trying to help her father find her murderer (ie the trailers on tv) but found out that the book isn't necessarily so. In fact, I wondered how they could even make a movie out of this novel. It was a pretty good read though. Got slow near the middle-end.

nearly two years, i made the thread in march 2008. the movie got delayed several times. but yeah, bummer. to be fair, maybe it's that the story might not translate well from book to film, no matter who made the movie.. even so, disappointed.

Elvis The Fat Years

oh. so it's only a 'bummer' disappointment not a :throws beer at the wall: disappointment.

that's not too bad.
