duovamp 03-12-2008, 11:14 PM Titanic - iceberg vs. boat, done deal. Done deal.
i think the story of the perpetual underdog triumphing through hard work, determination, and virtue of character is timeless and something to inspire us all.
Jurassic Park.... People vs. dinosaurs.

pft slave morality
Trotskilicious 03-13-2008, 06:30 AM here's the deal, it's real simple. Movie studios have perfected the art of bugeting to the point where they can make any piece of shit, like these kind of movies and those awful assembly-line parody movies (Epic Movie, Meet the Spartans, Superhero Movie) for cheap and they always make up the money in the box office because America is DESPERATE to escape from the desperate crisis that faces the country. Although I can't imagine who on earth wanted to see Meet the Spartans.
During the depression, the only things that made money were movies and sports.
Rockin' Cherub 03-13-2008, 06:34 AM i talked to a few people a week ago who thought meet the spartans was great
i haven't seen meet the spartans but i insulted them nevertheless

Correct procedure.
yo soy el mejor 03-13-2008, 10:58 AM i talked shit about borat and people who watched it. but i laughed when i finally saw it.
borat vs. america
Borat wasn't that horrible, and I hate to say that it made me laugh....even though it's just pure stupidity. Meet The Spartans on the other hand is complete shit.
My coworkers are always throwing lines in from that movie like it's so hilarious, but really it's just embarrassing for both of us.

i look at those titles and the last thing i think they have as a problem in common is "competition movies"
You Got Fucked In The Ass.

Irridescent Fairysex 03-13-2008, 01:10 PM Super Mario Bros - movie vs the audience
okay super mario bros is an underrated cult classic, but do you guys even know what genre of movie i'm ttalking about here?
twice 03-13-2008, 01:25 PM teen comedy?
BumbleBeeMouth 03-13-2008, 01:47 PM no, films where two seperate Cru's (sic) battle off against each other to win some kind of prize, usually a girl who is tantalisingly balanced between the leader of one gang, a plucky cheeky underdog, and a dark brooding nemesis, and inevitably, as things all look like they are going the bad guys way, a moment of inner genius by our hero saves the day and gets the girl walking off into the sunset shit cock ass fuck stick.
Oh and also included is the banging dirty grime hip hop song from sean paul or the black eyed peas.
BumbleBeeMouth 03-13-2008, 01:48 PM And a montage where both are preparing for THE FINAL CONFLICT!
BumbleBeeMouth 03-13-2008, 01:49 PM The contest is usually about some hip marketable nu skool past time like break dancing, urban rhyme skillz, parkour or yoyo's
Nimrod's Son 03-13-2008, 02:48 PM okay super mario bros is an underrated cult classic, but do you guys even know what genre of movie i'm ttalking about here?
movies whose authors can't speak proper english?
Fattening Ass 03-13-2008, 02:55 PM Im pretty sure superhero movie is gonna be awesome. It all depends who's at the helm of these parody flicks. This dude directed and wrote scary movie 3 and 4, which brought more of a abrahams/zucker/proft quality to them.
What sucks is that Epic/Date Movie were horrible, and those were done by the two dudes who wrote Spy Hard. Spy hard had quite a few good laughs.

Charmbag 03-13-2008, 07:39 PM okay super mario bros is an underrated cult classic
what
Mablak 03-13-2008, 07:56 PM I watched super mario bros in its entirety once last year, its absurd mediocrity makes it great, I don't know why.
Charmbag 03-13-2008, 07:57 PM it scared the shit out of me when I was a kid
the dark dystopian take on an otherwise colorful and family-friendly video game franchise does lend a surrealist appeal to the movie one may have not noticed when they had originally watched it as a kid for silly fun. i think thats why it has a cult following (but memorably bad movies usually do)
Fattening Ass 03-13-2008, 08:00 PM what the fuck
no.
eat a big pile of shit, Eulogy.
yes.
Mablak 03-13-2008, 08:01 PM Yeah for a kid it's a really disturbing take on mario bros. I would've liked to see them take things even farther and make an R-rated super mario bros, with yoshi eating people alive and mario splitting people's heads open by jumping on them. But oh well, it'll happen someday.

yeah see that would be stupid.

Charmbag 03-13-2008, 08:06 PM I haven't really seen an interpretation of Mario that I've liked anyway. I don't even like what Nintendo's done with him since 64 but I'm pretty much the only person in the world who feels that way.
Fattening Ass 03-13-2008, 08:06 PM im more of an electric boogaloo fan
