Rockin' Cherub 03-11-2008, 05:44 PM i for one welcome our new mcrib overlords
Thaniel Buckner 03-11-2008, 05:44 PM also, for fucking fake plastic food, the spicy mchicken sandwich was delicious and filling and you didn't feel like a goddamn pig after eating a couple. now it isn't spicy anymore.

i've had the dunkin' donuts flatbread sandwiches and hash browns. i will not have them again. and the pizzas look nasty in person.
they sure do make it all look delicious on those picture menus though.
agenda suicide 03-11-2008, 05:48 PM I thought the mcrib was already back... but then again I saw the sign for it back in like november or december, so I guess it's gone away and is about to be back yet again.

their breakfast sandwiches are amazing though. who doesn't love sausage egg and cheese on a croissant?! now that was a sweet job as far as food wise.. I worked at one of the dunkin donuts/baskin robbins. I'd trade donuts for free meals at boston market because zekix's boss would hook me up.
Nimrod's Son 03-11-2008, 05:56 PM has anyone seen those big angus burgers in certain markets? i saw some in chicago and virginia but they've yet to appear out here.
chicago, socal and ... one other place are test markets.
they're shitty, someone brought some into work. they taste like every other mcdonald's quarter pounder
Nimrod's Son 03-11-2008, 05:57 PM the arch deluxe was awesome

new york, i had one in the fall but i hear they're gone now. Did you guys know burger king discontinued their angus burger? there isn't really much point for mcdonalds to roll one out now i guess.

well basically, I'll love any sausage patty with cheese and some form of bread. burger king's got the best though.
also, on the topic of breakfast fast food. you can never go wrong with breakfast tacos. god, I love living in texas.

You probably don't have them there, but as far as breakfast sandwiches go I'd rather have Jack in the Box or Carl's Jr.

one time the dunkin' donuts people gave me a sausage, egg, and cheese croissant instead of a bagel with cream cheese (wtf, right), and it looked really disgusting. i didn't eat it.
but i think that particular DD has some problems. they can't seem to ever get anything right.
Floppy Nono 03-11-2008, 06:09 PM have any of you guys ever had the $1 ham, egg, and cheese on a bun with honey butter thing they have at burger king. I think it has a name but i don't know it and just refer to it as a "hamlette" sandwich. I absolutely love the sandwich for the price but my friends tried them out and told me they hated them and they were the absolute worst, most disgusting thing they've ever eaten.
What's your feedback on this?
edit: oh shit, it's really called a hamlette i think!

Chuck=Zero 03-11-2008, 06:11 PM Way back, like 8 years ago, when I worked at McDonald's I remember that summer that they had a barbecue burger, I don't remember if that's what it was actually called. But it was just a burger with cheese, barbecue sauce and bacon and it was delicious, or in the words of Will Ferrell's James Lipton: scrumptreleccent. As far as I'm concerned, barbecue sause and bacon are a perfect combination. Sadly though, I haven't seen it since. :unhappy:

yeah... for the most part I hate dunkin donuts, and the only time I've ever really eaten there other then when I worked there is when I was in Chicago and that was the closest place to get breakfast in 8 degree weather.
but also, it kind of helped that I was making my own food from there to eat...

actually, thats what i like the most. It's melted onto the top layer of the sandwich bun and tastes/functions like a syrup of sorts.
Skylarq 03-11-2008, 06:26 PM I was under the impression that the mcrib was only once a year and generally here in chicago that is october but I sure hope I'm wrong.

QFT.
The best sandwich McDonald's ever made. Too bad the marketing for it sucked.

chic-fil-a has a pretty good breakfast, but thats because their chicken is awesome.
ravenguy2000 03-11-2008, 07:31 PM I've had the angus burger thing twice now, once in CT and another in CA and I won't bother again. The bun is way too bready and bulky and it's weirdly absent of flavor. Needs salt and fat.

ravenguy2000 03-11-2008, 08:05 PM http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fried_pie
McDonald's apple pies in the past were of this type, being known for a pillow-like appearance and a crunchy, bubbly crust. They were introduced on the menu in 1968, but in 1992 were phased out in favor of a baked pie (claimed to be healthier) in the United States[1], [2]. There are some McDonald's restaurants throughout the US and world which do, however, still offer the fried pies, see the Fried Apple Pie Locator, including all McDonald's restaurants in the United Kingdom and Russia. In the US they are in locations which do not have the space for an oven. Hawaii offers not only the fried apple pie, but also a fried taro pie. Other than standard cherry and apple flavors, some countries have more exotic pies, such as banana filling fried pies and green bean fried pies available in China.
sppunk 03-11-2008, 08:07 PM Banana fried pie - not pure shit McDonalds are any other unedible fast food place - is one of God's greatest gifts.
Nimrod's Son 03-11-2008, 08:07 PM Did the apple pies at McDonalds change? I had one a few weeks ago and it didn't seem to be the apple pie of my childhood.
n search of McDonald’s fried apple pie...
According to the McDonald’s timeline, the “baked apple pie replaces the fried apple pie on the standard menu” in 1992. Indeed, that was a sad decision, and fried apple pie enthusiasts grieved for the loss of their beloved pastry. However, in recent years, there has been a resurgence of the infamous dessert as it appears in McDonald’s restaurants located in Wal*Marts, airports, shopping malls, and overseas. Hurray for the return of McDonald’s fried apple pie! Also, kudos to Christopher Treadway for pioneering the appreciation of McDonald’s fried apple pie. His site, Chief Mötley Web Sürfer, contains a list of some places to find fried apple pie as well as a very appealing applet (pun intended) of scrolling pictures of our treasured dessert, so go check it out and be prepared to drool!
Well, it is time to find more restaurants that serve fried apple pie and share these locations with other fans across the globe! “(M)” indicates an entry obtained from the Chief Mötley Web Sürfer. “(F)” indicates an entry that resulted from this page being listed on Fark.com on December 17, 2001. If you have any additions or corrections, please contact Cynthia Tsao with the relevant information (including how you found out about this site), and it will be added to the list. I am also just beginning a photo album of fried apple pie boxes, especially from McDonald’s restaurants that are located outside of the United States.

ravenguy2000 03-11-2008, 08:21 PM Is anyone here old enough to remember the fries when they were cooked in beef tallow? I'm looking now and most places say the switch happened in 1990 but I guess at 7 years old my palate memory wasn't all that great.

Ol' Couch Ass 03-11-2008, 09:30 PM Does anyone remember the McDonalds burgers with chili and onions? What about the hydrated onions? Christ, after 6-8 hours of diggin' your hand in those it seemed like ya had to wash your hands about a dozen times to finally get their scent off your hands. Nothin' there ever really grossed me out, though I'll admit to this day I've never attempted to try the Big Mac sauce.
topleybird 03-11-2008, 10:48 PM Smell that haunts me from working at a movie theater: the artificial butter topping. It was called Super-Kist Two and the running joke was to explain what went so horribly wrong with Super-Kist One. It was during this period of my life that I drank pure Mountain Dew syrup.

i tried this at the Newark airport a few weeks ago and it was horrible. i had a couple of bites and then i had to throw it out. i don't know what possessed me to want to try it anyway.
all the talk of burgers makes me want one RIGHT NOW though. i should go get a veggie burger from Harvey's though. those are pretty decent. too bad you don't have Harvey's in the states...they have some really good stuff.

I really don't get it, the similar ones at Hardees are the bomb by fast food standards, you think McDonalds could go through a bazillion dollars to come up with something that doesn't taste like cardboard

everything at mcdonalds has its own taste that is not relatable to the food it is supposed to be so when people go to mcdonalds theyre not looking for a quick burger or a some chicken or even fries.. theyre going specifically for mcdonalds tastes. ive crave mcdonalds burgers all the time even though they don't taste like food.
ravenguy2000 03-12-2008, 02:20 PM theyre going specifically for mcdonalds tastes. ive crave mcdonalds burgers all the time even though they don't taste like food.
Yeah, exactly. Like when I really want a burger I don't go to McDonalds. And when I really want McDonalds I wouldn't go out and get a burger somewhere else.
