Superbad is truly one for the ages. At first I found Jonah Hill to be a little overwhelming for a two hour feature, but I've since actually enjoyed this movie more every time I've watched it. Its a good example of how much comedies have evovled since the 90's. It used to be you'd get one funny character buddied up with a slightly less funny, straight character, and then if anyone one else in the film gets a laugh it's purely by luck (I can't even get through Dumb and Dumber these days). With Superbad's ensamble cast every character gets at least one big laugh, and there is a beautiful chemestry between the Cops and McLovin that you just never see in movies.

did not care much for this movie. despite a few mildly funny parts, it really dragged on and i found myself eagerly waiting for it end.

it was ok. nothing special. The only part that was absolutely hilarious was when the black chick was freaking out because she had a test the next day. "I dont believe it. I dont believe it!"

I was like :erm: the whole time.
I enjoyed it, especially Cera's performance [as always], but it's neither 'great' nor the 'greatest' movie.

When I saw it the first time I laughed harder than I've laughed at pretty much any other movie. Doesn't hold up as well on repeated viewings, but it's still very good. Agree with D. and Eulogy in that the first half is completely perfect and it kinda falters afterwards.

Although, probably the best line is.
"You're making me so wet."
"They said that would happen in health."

The painfully awkward "sex" scene between Becca and Evan is one of the best things ever committed to celluloid.

The fact that the character micheal cera played is so much like one of my friends made that movie great.

Trotskilicious
03-10-2008, 10:14 PM
My friend = McLovin. And since pretty much everyone I know identifies me with Seth, the constant stream of profanity, the insults, the way he panics immediately if anything goes wrong, his filthy red Japanese car, etc. Although my attitude about girls comes more in line with Evan.

Honestly, the first shot in that movie where Seth's riding in his car I just thought...oh man. There I am.

The credit sequence is probably one of the best opening sequences ever.

Hilarious movie. I really hated the performance of Seth's love interest though, but the rest of the cast & dialogue was plausible enough to iron that out. I mean, she was just in love with him, for no reason. Just hungry for his cock and had no other depths besides being that crass tomboy-lite chick guys love to write as their dreamgirl. The only bad thing about a great flick.
