i watched all of the episodes for the first time, beginning maybe 3 months ago, i just watched the last one today.

i think the one that impacted me the most was The Second Coming (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Second_Coming_%28The_Sopranos_episode%29), two episodes before the last one. the scene with AJ and then Tony was just nuts

it's kind of weird watching a series that unfolded over 10 years in 3 months. pretty awesome though.

which boarders here are sopranos fans?

the show was definitely the TIGHT. i think season 3 was my favorite (if that was the one with ralph).

really? ralph annoyed the hell out of me. that fuckign guy

i just put in the first episode of the series so i could see how young AJ is then

that AJ scene in the second coming f'ing intense, as davin might say

it was season 4. season 4 was the TIGHT.

not that 3 wasn't the TIGHT, but i thought 4 was better.

did you think that last episode was the TIGHT?

it pissed me off at first, like most people, but the more i thought about it the more i liked it.

its still sinking in. the whole time i felt like i was waiting for the sword to drop, i didn't want it to end. they certainly didn't try to tie up all the loose ends, which seems respectable to me. one of my only complaints about dexter season 2 was how neat and clean it ended, that kind of thing sometimes can make suspended disbelief seem more foolish, y'know? it's good when they don't break the spell by tying everything up neat and clean

but yeah, it's hard not to have your initial reaction be jumping up and going c'mon!!

i agree. that's why i like this guys article. (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/06/11/SOPRANO.TMP)

Chase managed, with this ending, to be true to reality (Tony's lawyer said earlier in the episode, "It's not like we haven't envisioned this day") while also steering clear of trite TV conventions. Tony wasn't killed in a blaze of gunfire. Multiple plotlines were left unresolved (like life). There was no hugging, no moral lesson, no pat ending.

man, they did an unbelievable job writing the storylines of aj and meadow growing up

junior, aidrianna, chris, vito.. they all had pretty dramatic trajectories

the best part was when his hair came off and christopher said something like, 'i had no idea.' and then tony said something... i forget how it went but it was one of the funniest scenes in the show.

my flatmate recently turned me onto the wire - probably the only tv show (of that ilk) that i've enjoyed since

With the exception of Janice, (and AJ at the end of the series) the show had a good reputation (with me at least) for killing any character that annoyed the hell out of me.

Tony's mom (well, I guess she died in real life too)
Richie
Ralphie
Those two dude bros who worked for Chris and ended up shooting him

any more I'm forgetting about?

I knew he was done as soon as he put The Departed soundtrack on. I mean sometimes the symbolism is pretty subtle and nuanced but when a character puts on a cd with The Departed on it in big bold letters you know it's coming.

Yeah, music - especially something outwardly mentioned or well-known - is pretty much Chase giving us a small window of prophesy into what's coming next

I love this show. At first I wasn't very pleased with how it ended, but I guess now that it has had some to sink, I appreciate it.

My favorite episode is the one where Paulie and Christopher get lost in the woods (season 3), hahaha
