If it can be purchased today, I don't think it would still be considered a leak.

do you know if this is a new version of fairuse4wm? vista mindfucked the last version i had of it so i would have had to do all this convoluted shit in windows to roll back my drm keys. if this is a new version im excited!

If you bootleg tunebite that'll work too if this doesn't.

FairUse4WM is just a graphical interface for DRMDBG. The latest version is available HERE (http://stream-recorder.com/forum/download-latest-version-drmdbg-exe-t1959.html?t=1959)

I don't think FairUse4WM has been updated in a long time. The Doom9 forums seem to be down, but I'd visit their Fairuse4wm page (google cache) (http://66.102.9.104/search?q=cache:nNMfeXBMdfMJ:forum.doom9.org/showthread.php%3Ft%3D114916+fairuse4wm&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&client=firefox-a).

A newer program is available called FreeMe2 (http://sourceforge.net/projects/freeme2). The Doom9 forum (http://66.102.9.104/search?q=cache:1LhgF3jFFXYJ:forum.doom9.org/showthread.php%3Ft%3D130055+freeme2&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&client=firefox-a) has more info, but it does seem superior.

Floppy Nono
03-04-2008, 12:51 PM
i think i remember looking into the freeme2 program but don't you have to compile it yourself or something? i remember there was something programing-wise you had to do that was out of my reach when i looked last.

edit: ohhh, no GUI, thats why it turned me off. I iz computarded.

rolmos
03-04-2008, 01:00 PM
No need to compile. The only drawback is that it is command-line operated, but it is very easy.

Download FreeMe2_win32-0.4.zip from here (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=205801&package_id=245990).

Unpack it in C:\, and youre done. Copy both your keys and files to the FreeMe2 folder. Now just run FreeMe2.exe on the command line using THIS tutorial (http://stream-recorder.com/forum/showpost.php?p=3792&postcount=1).

To get the Key files, use drmdbg, with the link on my previous post.

EDIT:

edit: ohhh, no GUI, thats why it turned me off. I iz computarded.

Just hit the start menu and type in "CMD"
IN the command prompt, type in "cd.." like 4 times.
THen type in "cd FreeMe2" (supposing you extracted the program in C:\
Now just followthe tutorial above.

rolmos

ok i've got all the programs but i'm unaware how to use drmbg to get the keys

DOwnload it here:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZLACIFN3

Once opened, it will open up your Windows media player, don't close it, just go back top the program.

Where it asks you for WMV DIR, find the folder with the DRMed files.
The DRM2 folder is the output folder where the keys will be copied to. Select any folder.

Click MultiScan

Now the keys should be copied to the output folder. I can't try it out, since I don't have any keys.

EDIT: IN VISTA RUN THE PROGRAM AS ADMINISTRATOR

Floppy Nono
03-04-2008, 01:24 PM
ive been doing this (right down to running as administrator) but for some reason it won't copy the keys to the ouput folder. hmm, this is driving me nuts!

rolmos
03-04-2008, 01:27 PM
By the way, you must legally own the downloads to do all this. I have the WMAs, but can't listen to them because I need the license key.

Floppy Nono
03-04-2008, 01:30 PM
yeah i have the license keys for the ones im trying to use but it still won't work. I looked at some other tutorials and it mentions something about a path being displayed next to the ibx number but i don't have that either.

I took the wma files and burned a cd using Windows Media Player then imported the songs to my Mac (different computer), then encoded the AIFF files to FLAC. They work on my computer which is not licensed, so I think that takes care of the pesky DRM.
