View Full Version : is there one sp song that is just utterly indispensable to you.

???

or that defines what sp mean to you more than any other.

sounds stupid i know but i find that whenever i go back and listen through all the albums again, there's one song that always hits me like it did the first time i heard it, and that's mayonaise. it just leaves me speechless every time, and i can't quite say the same for any other song. what about you.

no, i like lots of different songs on similar plateaus, they are, cherub rock, hummer, behold the nightmare, for martha and thru the eyes of ruby and porcelina.

But i was listening to sd today and it s'd my 'd. (in a good way) i didnt take my concentration off it for one moment. (maybe a little in quiet.)

hmm, i know that mayonaise was the first SP I recall being my absolute favorite for a long time, then grew out of it a little. but yeah i guess overall.

Edit: I take it back, imma go with here is no why

i'd also say mayonaise and hummer..and nightmare...and SIYL...and soma..and on and on, this is just too hard, about 40% of sp songs are absolutely indispensible to me

definately thru the eyes, its just really complete and the end is really relaxing, same with soma kindof but some parts of soma with the powerchords are meh

soma was the song that took me from "casual fan" to "obsessed crazy fan". I was going through the (very messy) end of a 2 and a half year relationship when siamese dream came out. That song hit me like a brick over the head. There are other songs that have come out since then that I enjoy more, but not that have the same meaning to me.

fuck off. Z had good b-sides, especially if you ******* gossamer, superchrist, and all the american gothic stuff along with the standard 4.

i think these songs really rounded out Zeitgeist for those who felt the album itself was "too heavy".

live Daphne Descends.

Of all the songs they performed during the Adore tour, the live versions of Daphne stand out most for me. The dual drum setup and keys during that tour totally transformed this song from the dull, lifeless version that's on the album to one of the best songs of the tour.

Probably Hummer. I heard it first about 8 years ago and have not yet found any other piece of music that makes me feel as joyful. Perfect example of why electric guitars are cool.

Blastin' "Bodies" with the volume knob cranked to ten worked was a fine outlet for letting out steam back in my teenage days so that oughta be included as well

are you serious davin? eat a pack. did i offend you personally somehow? is my post count not high enough?

what bsides? i see no reason to look at goss, superchrist or AG as zkisst bsides. theyre not bsides. not yet. zkisst bsides were...daydream....cant count stellar or dfa. stellar would have been the best bside since speed kills, but its on the album (v.243) so theres that.

zwan didnt have any good ones i can think of, and i dont like tilt. so since speed kills im out of good bsides. maybe i shouldve said "remeber good singles?" then davin wouldnt have gotten sand in his vag.

are you serious? he made no reference to your "post count" or being offended; he just disagreed with you and you got all riled up like a 13 year old whose mom just erased his saved x-box games.

---> CHILL.

but for davin, zeitgeist didn't sound "too heavy". it was just too punchy. i was all about it when it first came out, but now i really have a hard time listening to it anymore because i can't handle the whambam of it all. songs with a little more grace would've been nice to hear, and would've given the album a longer life, imo.

tensionhead, i think davin is probably one of the people around here LEAST interested in post count. I'm not even sure anyone is concerned with it, really, except people with a lower one who like to bring it up anytime someone with a higher one disagrees with them. Anyway, I think you overreacted a bit there, don't you?

(i guess caine walker already said all of that though)

yikes, calm down. my posts shouldn't be taken srsly enough to drive one to alcoholism.

b-sides, bonus tracks, whatever you want to call them. its clear from his comments billy thinks of all this stuff as "one body of work"...the "spirit of the times"...whatever....so i just associate them together. Like SD&PI......MCIS&TFA....PB&J.

Good Zwan besides? Freedom Ain't What It Used to Be....and Number of the Beast FTW.

i don't think it was too heavy either. but some have said so. but yea, it is very "slick" sounding on the recording, thanks to some of the production choices.

maybe if dav wants to come over and smoke a bowl, it will be all good. open invite to everyone in fact. ill be on the east side shoveling snow and will take a break anytime.
