The park over by the hospital looked promising. Four courts to play some ball. But there were a lot of thuggy kids near the skate park, so I kept driving.

There was another court by some elementary school closer to me, but I couldn't find it for the life of me. Also the kids were getting out and I didn't want to look like some perv driving around their neighborhood and looking around.

Crap! I just checked and it was just west of the school down a side street. ARGH! Better luck tomorrow.

That last park is going to be my regular park now. Phenomenal! No one else goes there but kids and moms. Nice neighborhood also.

last time i went to glasgow it made me laugh; you see a lot of inbred looking folk around blackpool, but never any real weird shit

work on the rail tracks meant i had to get a replacement coach part way. Literally within 1 minute of entering glasgow's city limits we turned off the motorway, got stuck at lights and saw this dude wearing just jeans and trainers (in FREEZING weather)... he came out a close and walked up the road a bit, turned and looked at shutters on a shop door and just starting freaking out, headbutting them to fuck and booting them full force. After doing this for about 15 seconds he stopped and stared at the shutters. Then he started going nuts on them again. Then he just walked off up the road.

Sounds like a typical Glaswegian to me.

I played at an open gym today. I actually did rather poorly until the last game. I was still pleased with my performance though for the following reasons:

a) I made a team every game through good free-throw shooting

b) when I was younger, missing shots drove me up a wall and I would lose my head and be useless the rest of the game. Last night, I missed probably my first seven shots (a couple badly) but it didn't even bother me. I kept shotting and they finally fell.

c) I was in much better shape than I thought. I hit my stride about an hour and a half into it, and could have kept going.

d) My ability to jump hasn't faded as much as I thought it did, and I did well on the boards.

e) I played good defense and passed the ball well.

I'm just reporting what I saw. I'm not saying these people are "ghetto people" but strange that you went there...

So last night I played excellent in our open gym games. Finally all this daily basketball is paying off. Most of my shots fell, including a couple threes. I played great defense and shut down the other team's second best player. I scored about 5 points of every 11 or so per game.

The first time I played I might score one basket the whole night, turn the ball over eight times and barely keep up on D.
