I'm looking for a recorded version of Muzzle featuring the "clown" part:

did you ever hear the one
aoub the clown
who laughed behind his tears
he was sure that he
was doomed behind a mask
despite his fears
he knew that he was all right

source: http://www.spfc.org/songs-releases/song.html?song_alt_id=47&song_type=1

So if anyone could help, that would be great.
Plus, if anyone had infos about this song, or if you know what "aoub" means ??

probably a misspelling of "about"

i believe those lyrics come from a set of Billy's own MCIS-era notes which he gave to the SPFC some time back. i'm pretty certain there is no known recorded version.

Thank God, if there was it would qualify as the single most embarrassing moment in all of SPs catalogue.

no, no. i think the crying, laughing clown is about eight thousand times worse.

Hurm.

Heard joke once: Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. Doctor says "Treatment is simple. Great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. Go and see him. That should pick you up." Man bursts into tears. Says "But Doctor... I am Pagliacci."

that is good work, topleybird! notice, the lyrics actually reverse that scenario: the clown is laughing on the inside, crying on the outside. i wonder if the title Muzzle could refer to this 'mask' behind which the performer hides certain feelings in order to please his audience... if you think about it, we all wear a 'mask' ...

yes. if you think about it, we all are rock stars being driven from touch with reality by the 'mask' we wear ...
